We have started writing a book about our last 23 years of swinging. How we got into it. The clubs and the meets.

The question is can the book have all the details. Things like he was coming in my mouth I just keep swallowing

As he was coming more and more. As I sat on another man's face.

Or should it be both of them showed me a good time. You get our point. Thanks

I would say you could probably get away with as much detail as you want too with it really

Depends on whether you're writing porn or describing a scene. Detail is good until it obscures the main point.

Trying to make the book about us and the swinging part of our life. How we change with age and the things we do. Sex has been a big part of that for us. From straight to bi. Sub to Dom. Could do it without the details but they show a point . Thanks for any help.

Details….it needs to be gripping enough to not put down. If it comes across as smutty, so be it…but the word will get out and folk will purchase.

My opinion though

I like a bit of spice so some details would be good however it's easy for it to end up being nothing but smut so maybe describe some but not all.

Doesn't matter cant block distances

Both have been done before..it's up to you and what you desire and if details will outs someone else that isn't privy to the consent of the occasion.

It's the style of the writing that's most important, IMO. Sex can be written about in many ways, including erotica, scientific academia, graphic novel and more. It's probably good to have one tone, more or less throughout. Thus I'd plan your book according to how you'd best write it, as well as what you'd anticipate your readers would expect.

Seems quite easy to self publish and sell books online these days (A to Z seems a popular vehicle for this?) This way you’d keep more profit but you’d be responsible for proof reading, marketing/advertising. Mrs SW

As long as it's not libellous it should be fine. I'd love to read it

For me it would be about what your aim is for the reader. Are you aiming to titillate or be factual. Do you want your book to be seen as erotica or factual? If you put in sexually stimulating words you might put some off. In the other hand that may be others idea of a good read. Ultimately you decide what you want for the book. I suspect most on this forum would enjoy it as more erotica.

We have reached about 20,000 words.

It was all before we began swinging so far. Just to build the characters lots of sex just not swinging yet. We were married and together for ten years before we began swinging.

It depends on who your target audience are and if you believe you can encourage more people into the lifestyle. As others have said it is likely best to not go into too much detail, but talk about feelings and emotions experienced by yourselves. Read it through and ask yourselves whether you would buy it if it had been written by someone else.

We have been putting both sides the sex giving details. But also how we feel at the time. I used to dress very differently before we met. So parts of the book so far have been about me changing. And wearing short skirts and other sexy outfits.sex was not good at all before we met, and I put that in the book to show the difference.

Do people buy many books about swinging? Or just read things on fab.

I think there's a couple of elements to this...

Can you include all the details? In short, yes. However, the juicier and more explicit the detail then the more niche you're likely to be labelled. Think Lady Chatterley's Lover, Clockwork Orange, etc. You can (still at least) write what you want but it will affect your potential audience.

And will it sell? I've always been advised to write what you want to write and not write for an audience or for sales. If the book's good enough, it'll find its audience.

Personally the more detail the better for me. Well written erotica beats porn any day.

Thank you; we share your feelings. But also swinging has always been for us so thing we have fitted in. When we had the time now every night at dinner we are talking about things to put in the book. Its like living then all over again. A lot of fun.
