My perception:

A FWB is a pre-existing friend with whom I'll occasionally have sex. No feelz or romantic commitment involved.

If it starts as just a sex thing, without a pre-existing friendship, and just carries on as a recurring shag thing, then my go-to term is "fuck buddy".

Fuck buddies can evolve into FWBs, if we also click on a friendship lebel.

For me a FWB would come visit a couple of times a week, get naked, take time, make love, cuddle kiss nap afterwards. Have a chat, hang out for a bit before getting dressed.

Fcuk buddy would be someone who comes over, undresses, fcuks you for 10 or so minutes then leaves as soon as finished.

Someone who thinks like you and has a connection with you. Doesn't take life too seriously and enjoys your company.....great sex obviously
