Chrome/brave/edge all allow enforcing dark mode on any site. At least they do on android.

That would be cool to have as I have an iPhone and as far I know (I could be wrong it’s not possible on safari). Saying that though, chrome is available on iPhone devices to download so it may be possible using chrome as the default browser instead as long as you don’t mind using chrome. Guess if that is the case, then fab would need to weigh up the pro’s and cons of implementing the feature so all can use it regardless of browser against limited options depending on user browser preference but less work (assuming that it is due to the browser used).

"What does dark mode mean?"

Where the protagonist is evil, the antagonist is evil, and everybody dies.

More seriously, dark mode switches from light background with dark text to dark background with light text. It's good for bedtime browsing in the dark because it doeant blast your eyes as much.

You can do this at the operating system level, the browser level, or the individual Web site level.

On android, you can enable it for the whole OS in settings. It's usually one of the quick settings when you pull down from the top of the screen. For me it's on page 3. The chrome browser respects this setting but see the problem later.

In chrome you can go to settings - themes and choose dark mode. That will put just the browser into dark mode.

Quite a few web sites also allow you to choose a dark mode in their (web based) settings.

I think the complaint here is that fab doesn't respect the browser theme that you choose, so the above dark mode choices don't make fab's background black.

If I were to guess, this might be because fab's CSS explicitly picks white as the background and black as the foreground, rather than leaving it to be the system default.

I always have my Samsung S22 ultra on dark mode, along with eye comfort shield and the brightness reeeeaaaaal low. It automatically adjust for outdoors.
