Is it just me or do other people get messages of one, maybe two words or at the most three.....ie...Meet tonight? or Hi babe? or Wanna fuck later?

Now I'm no English teacher and I can handle spelling errors and grammar issues but surely most people who have had a basic education, can manage a sentence lol???

Yes I've had those sort of messages too. Even worse are the ones where sentences run into each other with no commas or question marks in the relevant places, so you don't know if they're asking you a question or telling you something. It can make reading even a short message a bit of a headache.

Oh I just ignore and delete - that usually expends about the same amount of energy as they did typing a desultory message like that. So all is equal!

I do too but look at the profile first!

Saying that, in one instance, I made first contact and although the first 3 or 4 responses were 1 or 2 words, I stuck with him ; my patience was rewarded. He is a very busy guy that has limited access to his own phone during daytime.

i guess people do it out of 'hope' a bit like winning the lottery. they know they havent got much of a chance so they do it in the offchance that they 'might' get a reply.

its no use spending a whilst composing a nice message only to be rejected with obnoxious one-liner replys like 'sorry not interested'.

most people see it as a shag not a marriage proposal. people are short of time and a lot of people arent here to shag at all but to boost their ego and make themselves feel good. so they put on a stunning profile and feel good about themselves when they get lots of replys. its tacky, really.

some people lie on their profiles or 'dont know what they want' and arent proper swingers. its probably better to write a short message than waste your precious time writing a long one.

Every time I do that I end up disappointed so I am pretty ruthless now. If they then send me a decent message later and I can see a face I like then I will chat. Otherwise I simply do not have the time usually.

Some of us who do try and write a sentence and even a paragraph or two may be rare, certainly looks that way on the rare emails I get in my inbox.

Can be frustrating when you have tried to read the profile and try to be unique in every email and so few replies, but then when you look like Blakey from On The Buses like me I guess you don't get many takers

also some people can not use a computer very well and have very big finger and cant press the keys easily. Thats an accessibility issue. You cant patronise people because their messages are brief. There are dyslexic people and those who didnt go to school.

I would expect a more understanding response from an english teacher. Sorry.

Fair point but no ones asking for war and peace. Just a properly formed sentence which wouldn't take up much more time than some of the drivel people send. I'm personally much more likely to reply to someone who can form a proper sentence than one of the 'how's u?' brigade who just make me hit delete straight away.

Every single time someone comments about poor messaging someone else mentions dyslexia. According to what is said on these forums I reckon more than 50% of the population suffer from it.

I have worked with dyslexics for 20 years and can assure you that they are more than capable of stringing a sentence together. Believe me - many are high-achievers. So to say that people who cannot write are dyslexics also is saying that dyslexics cannot write and that is bloody insulting to people who genuinely DO have dyslexia!

I have chatted to and met guys off here with dyslexia - and they were quite capable of sending decent messages.

Mainly women who do this to me. Think you'll jump on it if you get a "Hi" then after that if I reply conversation is very tough and laboured and I just think 'why should I make all the effort?'

In our experience it's usually single guys that send those types of messages. I'm fully aware that others might get them from couples too, but we haven't.

We find that people with very brief profiles tend to send very brief messages.

I certainly do not! A plain, well written mail to people that I want to communicate with, it is though a shame that I do get replies of less than standard level of school leaving ability!

I do though also get mails from guys that think that I am seeking them, although my status says bi curious, it is more to do with couples mf than a single man.

We find that people with very brief profiles tend to send very brief messages.

I have a very brief profile - I thought it might help some of the numpties see what I am looking for quicker and for them to leave me alone.

However, if someone interests me enough to contact, I will send a decent message, and likewise will reply politely and in depth usually. I'm sure some of my message recipients put the kettle on, make a cuppa and get a comfy seat before reading some of my epics

I have read all the comments on this subject, a lot I agree with, but we havnt had any personaly.

how ever straying off the direct subject, I used to do a job dealing with applications for employment, Oh boy now theres a lesson in bad grammer, bad spelling, atrocious writing and finally, the paper the letter is written, even used envelopes!!!, and some want an answer!!!
