As silver fox says above it wasn’t necessarily go home together generally people used to take turns to host a party at their place and they would stay and play with whoever they all picked out. It wasn’t the only thing they did just one of the games they would play to make it a bit more random and fun. Intresting !!! So, was it random or pre-planned ? was the place and people pre arranged ? or more like a dogging meet ? just random. Honestly, this has me so wet xx I don’t think it was totally random as they would have known one another as silver fox says. There may of been an element where people took other people that would have been new to some of the people there. It certainly wasn’t as easy as it is now but it definitely went on. Lots of bushy triangle pubes out back then lol. X" My experience of Keys in the bowl parties goes back to the late 1960s and into the 1970s, we had no internet, no mobile phones and not many people had access to a land line. The local pub was where it all happened, groups of people got together on a regular basis, someone would come in and announce that his parents were going away for a few days and the house would be empty, a party/clique would be 4 or 5 couples all known to each other, The car keys would be put into a bowl by the male, the female would then take a set out and they would disappear upstairs.My then girlfriend and I would usually go to one or two parties a month depending on availability of venues. All parties were by invitation and I do not remember any random visitors. | |||

You had to put yourself about, mainly clubs, you would get to know the couples and singles who actually play. It took time and effort, timewasters were almost unheard of because effort tends to keep timewasters away. Clubs, contact mags, letters containing Polaroid photographs and £1 fee to forward each contact. Can you imagine FAB charging a fee to pass on each message, no forums or chat rooms. Tends to only attract serious players. But how great is it to have the enormous amount of clubs, swingers holidays, parties and places like FAB showing who is actually close by and off on holiday at certain destinations and dates, club events etc. It's a great time to be in the swinging scene, if there isn't something that takes your interest, it's never going to happen. | |||

You are only having sex not expected to spend the night together or form a relationship. This response makes no sense because you would still need to find them attractive to have sex with them no?" I heard that a village with group of couples on the Staffordshire border was known for its parties where Sunday morning would have smartly dressed ladies scurrying back to their respective homes having spent the night with whoever they picked out from the key bowl - it was a smallish groups of 6-8 couples who obviously knew each other and lived near each other. Thank goodness it’s slightly less secretive and easier to find likeminded people these days! Can’t say I ever came across the key scenario though." I disagree a little. Parties years ago, the people who attended had been personally invited by the host, mostly to their own home. All of us had been met previously, either at a club, social or in our case a couple approached us at another party and asked if we would be interested in attending a party at their home. We can remember it well, the garden backed onto fields so nakedness inside and out was the norm.
The effort this couple had gone to was amazing, just the food they offered was fab.
Timewasters, dreamers, drama queens didn't get a look in and it was so exciting to get these invites, made you feel somewhat special.
I don't think there was anyone at the parties who weren't attractive and/or engaging but there was never any pressure to play and the parties where single guys attended they had been invited too, not just randoms.
Parties on canal boats was a laugh too.
All in all the ease of todays swinging scene has the disadvantage of attracting huge amounts of timewasters, dreamers and delusional.
Like most things in life, a bit of effort can sort out the wheat from the chaff.....
