At what point do you realise you’ve got a ‘no show’?

What do you do next, find a substitute, or just give up?

Similarly, who’s happy knowing they are a possible substitute, on the waiting list?

Plan ahead!

We always plan something else like camping or paddle boarding or just a vanilla night out instead for first meets. That way if there's a last second cancellation then we move straight to plan B - no drama

Depending how late it is we have been known to find a substitute but also been known to call it a night at the end of the day if they let us down its there loss don't get a second chance unless they have a very good reason

Great idea.

For first meets I usually arrange them in a pub 5 mins walk from my house, so it's not a big deal. I've had other meetings when I've been working away that could involve more of my time, but I've never travelled a long distance just for a first meet so it's never been a huge issue. People pull out for all sorts of reasons I don't hold it against them, especially if they're new and get cold feet.
