Is a wink as good as a nod on fab?

When we see a profile we lime we send a wink.

1, To see if it can be sent, to follow up with a messages if we get looked at or a wink back.

2, So we don't waste time sending a nice initial message to have it ignored or unread.

What do you do?

I look at the profiles of those who wink at me. If I like the look of them, I send a message.

I do get the feeling though that a lot of people disregard winks.

We like the wink system some people say it’s lazy but we don’t agree. If someone winks us we atleast know they are interested then can send them a message if it’s mutual

We dont even bother with winks.

From experience 99% of them come from people who clearly havent read the profile.

At least with a message you can hopefully make an assessment if they are on the same page.

Granted lots that message don’t read the profile either.

We often have to remind people its the collection of words under the pictures

I like a wink but others dont, some check, some don't I see it as a good little icebreaker.

I've had some lovely meets that started with a wink.

Yes definitely! Most first messages are a bit awkward, your trying to figure a pair of people out from a couple of paragraphs so why not just break the ice straight away with a "we fancy you" wink and if its returned you know you've already skipped the first step and on to the next.

We like a wink.

In our experience there is little to no difference in the response rate of profiles that say they do or do not check winks; suggesting that either they check their "who viewed me" page more, or they are largely telling everyone they don't check winks as a humble brag about how many options they have whilst actually checking them anyway.

It's a good system, we don't have the time to put chapter and verse into a message to someone who may or may not be interested based on whatever reason we don't even necessarily know about ahead of time. If people don't want to use it that's up to them.

I like the wink system. I do read profiles and won't send one if they specifically say they don't want them, but otherwise I'll send them.

When I do (occasionally) get them I can look at the profile and if I like it I can message knowing that they, presumably, like what they've seen.

TBH, I don’t even notice winks, had a dear friend of mine on here unhide her profile and wink at me and it wasn’t until 3 weeks later when we were chatting and she said she had winked that I knew.

I’m happy to send messages first time, and will often message people who are near and look at me. Though that sometimes feels like you’re saying “why don’t you like my profile enough to message me?”

In general

If a man gets a wink from a woman he thinks he’s pulled

If the same woman gets a wink from a guy she blocks him for not having made an effort to send a personalised message

I rarely get winks.

Get absolutely loads of:

Hi?

How r u?

U free now?

Hey there sexy

Can you accommodate now?

and plenty of other short, unimaginative copy n paste style messages from mostly 'straight' (yeah right, stop kidding yourself) single males. 90% of which are ignored n deleted as its obvious they just couldn't be bothered to read my profile

We send winks to show interest but seems to be most people ignore them.

If we go get a wink back we will follow up with a message to introduce ourselves

I send a wink and then send a message if I get a wink back.

Unless their profile says 'no winks'.

Had so many couples wink us, we wink back, then nothing! Are we supposed to message after a wink? Being new we are a bit confused

We always wink first…. Surely that’s the point of the feature? =I like your profile so I’ve let you know? Take a look at my profile and reciprocate if you think the same.

We never wink first. However if we get a wink we'll read their profile (in full), if they take our fancy we'll wink back but mostly they don't follow up with a message (no time was wasted in reading their profile!). We have had some meets that have started with a wink, but it's rare.

We wink to show interest. If we recieve a wink back we’re drop a message.

If we’re winked and we like we return the wink and see if it’s followed up with a message.
