Monthly STI test reminder!

Down the back of the sofa.

As we’re in a group of people that had more sex than others with different partners, we should have regular tests, it’s very much part of the ethical bit of enm!

A quick google will bring you to your free service on the NHS. It’s free it’s easy, what’s not to love

Let’s be the change we wish to happen.

Post below when you’ve ordered!

Some areas are different but there will be some provision! I believe free testing is every three months!

Had our results back last week ( all clear). But not keen on the new sh24 packaging. So much over packing, it's a waste. But always quick to return the results.

But if this thread - thanks op, persudes a couple more people to test, who have not before, it's a good thing.

I’ve been tested and clear beginning of this month went to the clinic as I am too squeamish to take my own blood.

It’s really quick, couple of days to arrive and once you’ve sent of a couple of days for results.

Just ordered a new test now I'm playing again. Thanks for the reminder

Still shocks me how many people have never been tested (or even worse, want to play bare with strangers)

Great post.

As a point of interest, what are the free test kits testing for and how? SH24 as an example?

When you order you can choose. As a basic they test for chlamydia but you can request for HIV, syphilis, Hep B & C. They do it through a mixture of urine samples, blood tests and sometimes swaps. The blood test is a finger prick and you massage your finger into a sample tube, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Everything you need comes in the kit with instructions.

locally it's 14 days for results from the home tests.

Getting blood into those pots is difficult but if you milk the cut with the lip of the pot it really helps.

Going into the clinic for the first time feels awkward but the staff are super professional.

Happy to say we are both negative & not had a meet since the test

We thought the same... the packaging seems more fashion than function. It just seems too much!

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

No clinics here, only postal test, but they're free and discreet, so we're lucky on that score.

(Look up FriskyWales)

I'm just old fashioned and would prefer a clinic

P.s Thanks OP for raising the topivlc.

I get tested every 2-3 months and post my last test date on my profile.

Always open with others on my results - We're all adults having fun and it's the responsible thing to do.

Great post and should be more socially acceptable with casual sex being the most mainstream.

Although I always get the sense the ones that typically need to test aren’t the ones that do…

For me a test is always good as a precaution alongside playing safe.

Anyone else find the blood test takes forever and is so hard getting it in that little tube.

Talk about getting a blood out of a stone, and the little trick hurts...

I've never been offered a choice. It's always chlamydia and gonorrhoea only. I think it depends on area as to what you are offered. xx

Notts somewhere

I regularly test... its only fair on me and the others that I will have sex with. But... I used to do the mail order sh uk tests until my blood sample couldn't be used last time (too dehydrated??)

This time, I went to the local GU clinic only to find that they don't SMS the result anymore.. I have to call a number.. enter a code they gave me, and listen to the response.

I'm sure I can share the number and code with potential sexual partners.. but has anyone else come across this little sticking point by using their local GU Medicine??

Never heard that before. I got my results back by sms.

Ordered my test from SH24 website on Wednesday night, last week.

Kit arrived Friday morning.

Samples taken, posted it back Friday afternoon.

Checked the tracking number, so I know it arrived at the lab on Monday morning.

Results (all clear) texted to me on Tuesday afternoon.

Excellent service, as always.

Really, there's no reason not to do it.

Notts somewhere

I asked about this, and they said if the NHS / Hospital GU clinic do the tests (at my local hospital) they aren't allowed.

still - I can share the telephone number.. code and my date of birth with any potential sex partner.

One of the advisors at my clinic advised to wrap your hand around a warm mug of drink or hot water for a while before attempting to get the blood sample yourself. It certainly seems to help if your hands / fingers are nice and warm.

Great rhread, thanks for raising awareness OP. From what I can find out, home test kits aren't available in Scotland. I'd really like the convenience of home testing. Does anyone know if home testing is available in Scotland?
