It is the attitude implied by your use of the word that will stop you getting meets, not the actual use of it. | |||

Sure it is an expression not many would be familiar with and in this instance it has created confusion and a gut reaction due to lack of knowledge. I am a woman and I only speak for myself not in the name of all women; I don't feel the OP's use of the expression "women are a rare commodity" is in any way shape or form offensive probably because in my mother tongue as well as in yours it does not have the meaning you assumed! To answer the OP's statement; - I thought was the aim of posting in forums - you will find that there are plenty of 50+ ladies on this site but not all of them are 'cougars'! A word in my opinion that is far more damaging and disparaging to women of a 'certain' age.  | |||

I'd concur with the advice given above. There's a scene in The Empire Strikes Back when Han is on the TaunTaun looking for Luke. You're in a similar position, out in the cold on the planet Hoth, looking for an older woman. What does Han do? Could you transfer those movie techniques to real life? Works for me.
