No. I used to get paid the same as people who did the equivalent job badly, my reward was to do some of their job too and put their mistakes right.

I once bumped into a parent in Sainsburys. I had helped with a problem their child had at a crap school.

They dragged me across the shop to introduce me to the grandparents, who had obviously heard about the help I'd given. The granddad shook my hand and insisted on buying me a bottle of wine.

I've never told anyone before but felt so proud at the time.
