The clitoris extends down the walls of the vagina, so you can sort-of think of clitoral stimulation as only stimulating the head of a penis, and vaginal stimulation as only stroking the shaft. It's not the same but it's fairly equivalent.

I beg to differ on your first point. Give yourself a ridged band or foreskin orgasm, but without touching the head of your cock or the frenulum. Then you'll have a better idea of what a female orgasm is like, and just why it can take so much longer for a woman to cum.
