As a first impression a tracksuit wouldn't be great in my mind.

With someone I know well? They can wear whatever they wish if we're just meeting up for a coffee or they're coming over for the evening/night. Joggers, jeans, and oodie, a bin bag....

It's situationally dependant.

But first impressions count. So why not put in some effort until you're at a point where clothing doesn't really matter.
