DIY Spanking Implements

Looking for a new spanking implement not long ago, I was frustrated at the lack of rubber-based ones generally available. Leather (or faux-leather, of you want to go cheaper) are plentiful, but nothing beats the feel of solid rubber hitting flesh. Sure, you can go to specialists who charge like a wounded bull, but I knew exactly what I wanted, So I thought: “sod it”, and embarked on a project.

Looking through Temu, I saw those exercise tension bands thingies, and with the black ones being both the most appropriate colour and thickest rubber, I ordered a number of them, along with a silicone pot-handle protector. Not realising how much of a pain it is to bond rubber, exhaustive (and boring…) research led me to a black, flexible sealant which cures into the exact material I was looking to stick. After nearly a week of curing each band together (24 hours per bond) I cut up a spatula handle braced/bolted it to the end of the rubber.

I had never used resin before, but splashed out a fiver for a small kit anyway. Taping the rubber paddle upright, I put the crude wooden handle in the pot-protector and filled the vacant areas with resin (pre-pigmented black to maintain the colour-scheme).

I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be successful - not least through lack of experience with resin - but was as surprised as anybody that it actually worked! The damn thing looks like an expensive piece of kit you’d buy from a professional fetish crafter. It’s a 1cm thick rubber strap, with an absolutely rock-solid handle which isn’t going to break during play. From what I saw, something like this might cost upwards of £50 to buy elsewhere, but the entire thing was in the bag (straps, handle, sealant, spatula, metal braces, bolts, resin kit) for about £12.

The wife was really impressed, too. She likes the way it feels, admitting that it can go from pleasant to nasty with little effort.

If you haven’t dropped off by this point, then you really need to see a doctor about that insomnia. Anyway, I’d really recommend having a go at making your own implements, as you build them exactly how you want, coming in a damn-sight cheaper than professionally bought, and you get a measure of satisfaction when it goes right. So much so that you’ll want to demonstrate your handiwork to family and friends.

OK, maybe not that last bit, but you get the idea.

(There’s a photo of the finished product in our gallery).

In my younger years I explored a little bdsm. My buttocks were struck with a variety of implements, but the worst by far was an oven glove. It was an uncomfortable blow in a very different way, hard to explain, it took my breath away for sure. Would heartily recommend.

I can imagine that was quite thuddy

"I can imagine that was quite thuddy"

My wife prefers "flat" impact rather than a thin sting of something like a cane, so a rubber paddle is ideal.

Have a pair of unused 1970s Pirelli slippers winging their way through the post, so let's see how she gets on with those when they are making their mark on her...

You described it much better than me, thuddy, yes.

I’ve seen a few “home made” spankers, one we found in a club was about 2/3cm thick clear rubber with a wooden handle, that left a nice make when only allowed one strike. Another which is a good all rounder was found at a different club which I intend to copy myself. Knobbly bike tyre folded in half (sides removed) again with a wooden handle.

Cool! Ridges might be a little too far for my wife, as it was only last year that she had the "lightbulb moment" when she discovered she actually enjoyed all this caper.

For the next one, I am seriously thinking about making a mould and casting the strap (possibly the handle, too...) out of rubber myself. This might just be over-exuberance from the resin going right, but I'm certainly interested in trying new things.

Mrs CT doesn’t usually have marks from floggers or paddles the next day until I’d bought a small pink paddle with different textures either side.

Wasn’t expensive and looks nothing special, but we let a few other couples try it at a club and they couldn’t believe how different it felt either.

Mrs CT bum was bruised for a good week afterwards

We have the problem that redness is gone within minutes, and most marks (including fairly heavy ones) are usually a thing on the past less than an hour later.

The woman is like Wolverine or Captain America. Alcohol doesn't affect her, either! She was run over by a bus just over a year ago, and broke no bones - causing the doctor to say: "You're Wonder Woman!"

Upshot of all this: it takes a hefty implement to mark her!

Congratulations on making a suitable toy. My thoughts are once you add in your time, profit, and accommodation. You may find the cost shoots up. I like to support artisan workers.

I bought from LAM some years ago a rubber paddle the shape of a short cricket bat but the body was 1cm thick rubber by 10cm wide and 30cm long plus 10cm handle. Everyone has refused to have it used on them. I have a fair few pervertables from silicone spatulas to my IKEA meat mallet with a rubber head.

If you go to various kink markets you can find paddles made of all kinds of things

Carbon fibre

Woods

Plastics

Leathers

And even metals.

If you are looking at getting creative, I've got chopping boards, belts of all kinds, bbq bear claws...the list is endless

We were at a club and Mrs Misfits' awesome arse broke this guys rather nice and heavy cheese serving paddle. She felt quite guilty but at least he'd be able to pick up another at any good supermarket or homewears store no problem

And a thing of beauty!

My go to pervertible for a long time was a drumstick, for obvious reasons and for pressure points. I learned from a course one of the cheapest implements for pressure points is a packet of Polos, not Rollos, Rollos are for aftercare.

I have a range of wooden spoons, kitchen slices. I have some very nice bread rolling pins from a Greek bakery that was selling them. I could not resist. They are like a thick cane and a thin cane but more solid.

My current favourite bit of unpleasantness as I do lot of floorwork rope with my bdsm (beside coconut rope) is Lego.

I've got the IKEA meat tenderiser too

And various implements from my local garden centre which are pointy and thwacky.

A porage spurtle is very flexible in its uses.

I have heard of a wooden paddle with pieces of Lego set in resin along it - which sounds particularly mean
