It's got to be trimmed otherwise it pokes out of my swimsuit at the leisure centre pool to scare the kids and gets caught in my pants elastic...Unless I wear the female equivalent of male boxers which just sound super uncomfortable to me...giant bloomers....

Probably not. If you go back far enough in time, women wouldn't have shaved their legs either (some don't now, but many do).

One of my daughters has hirsutism and shaves parts of her neck. I dunno what she uses.
