Face Pics

Nearly every Couple and Female profile asks for a male's face pics as a prerequisite for cursory consideration of his message. Yet the vast majority of MF, FF and F have no face pic on their profile at all. Subsequently, if you send them a face pic, more often than not, you hear no more from them.

These days when mobile phones tag the exact location the pic was taken and store it in metadata the opportunities for, at best embarrassment and at worst blackmail or burglary, resulting from photos needs to be considered because they can identify exactly where you live.

I know MF, F and FF get inundated by M sending messages but can we have a little understanding here. At least let the M know you are genuine before asking for personal details.

Or am I pissing into the wind here?

If you are initiating the contact then why shouldn't they ask, if they message you, then you could ask.

Maybe if you don't hear anything after sending a face pic then they have decided your not for them, if your not happy about sending it then move on to next profile... But if your that concerned about blackmail and burglary how can you ever be sure

Of course they can ask but the vast majority never reply to anyone. Either they are time wasting or looking for Brad Pitt.

I totally understand and agree with you to a point. However, its all about numbers. Couples and women can afford to have no profile pic (or in some cases, no pics at all) on their profiles because single men far outnumber those other groups combined.

As a rule, i employ the same behaviour and only continue conversation (regardless of which side initiated contact) if the other party have, or can supply at least a face pic. I've probably lost out on meets as a result, but there's no way i'm talking to a faceless profile, no matter the excuse.

If its worrying you that much, why are you messaging the profiles that ask for a pic? I don't see the point of mailing them, then coming on the forums and complaining about it.

Why not just pass these profiles by and move onto the ones that DON'T ask for a pic?

Whilst I'm also nervous about the risk, if a profile has plenty of veris and enough on their profile to suggest i'd be interested in them, I always send a face pic. Find its pretty rare to not get a reply when you do, and they usually send their face pic straight back in return.

Just keep face pics and nude pics separate. Then if the pics get to someone you know you can always say they just stole the face pics off your facebook or something, and that its not your profile.

I think you have missed my point. I can decide not to send the pic if necessary but I am more aware what can be done with IT than some. I was just making a point for discussion.

would be easier if there were face pics on every profile but that isnt gonna happen

what i would like is pics that give you a real look at the bods overall dont wanna be sending face pics out just to get my message read. with the flip of a coin chance that im gonna be physically attracted to the recipient anyway

Can you clarify if the metadata collected by the phone would be maintained with the photo if it was uploaded onto fab, and accessible to people you forwarded it on to via a message?

I don't think the Metadata is preserved when viewing via the standard size presentation on the site - however I'm not a site supporter so I'm unable to verify if that is the case with the 'larger view' option.

Perhaps throw the question to the site admins in the Site Feedback section?

If you're so concerned about photos from mobile phones being traced back to your address, why not just use a digital camera.

It's insulting for a man or women to demand a face pic in their profile if they don't have a photo of themselves.

I have not looked personally on this site and do not intend too - perhaps the Fab admin can answer that.

By using various simple techniques you can get round quite a few download blocking elements and wind up with a .jpg file and it is that which contains the data.

I don't want to go into it any further here but many will remember that recently Facebook pictures were being used to find peoples location.

Best not to take pics with a mobile phone with location running.

As Siman has stated, it can be done, if you know what you are doing. This is why i usually alter the filename and certain elements of a photo metadata before uploading.
