Hi all, there's a woman at work who I get along with really well and we share plenty of innuendos. I don't know how to approach the situation because I don't want to make things awkward between us either, any advice?

Firstly what situation do you want to approach? Do you want to have sex with her, a relationship? Have you considered the long term consequences of whatever you do?

If you literally just want to have sex and nothing else I'd say leave well alone it could make things really awkward if she says no or yes. If you think you'd like to date her mention a film you'd like to see and ask if she'd like to go with you but make it clear it's a date.

We met at work and have been together nearly 43 years. Be careful what you wish for

I think if you explain that (providing she says yes) then it's fine. I'm not saying it won't get awkward if she says no though but it's a chance you'll have to take

If she’s exchanging innuendos and flirty jokes with you then there’s a good chance she’s interested, unless it’s just a bit of silly work fun to her.

I’d agree with the above who’ve said if you’re only interested in sex then probably avoid it as it could be a HR minefield. However if you’re interested in genuinely hanging out with her (if only on a casual basis for now) then yeah, find an opening on a mutual interest, a movie or concert or something and see if she’d like to go with you. If she shoots you down or even says that particular date doesn’t suit or something, just leave it alone as the ball is now in her court

When one of the directors found out about us he called me into his office and said “Obviously there’s nothing the company can do about it but personally I think you’re a c#nt”. To be fair we were both married to other people but fell in love, and like I say, 24 years later still together.
