Icebreakers for chatting

So you've seen a profile you like, had a browse of the pictures, decide to message.

What's a good icebreaker to break the ice?

Personally we find the same "hey how are you" mantra boring and probably copied and pasted numerous times.

Do you find something in the profile to chat about? Try a corny one liner? Make a joke?

We love getting messages from people who don't use the same old same old and try something new. We're much more likely to have a conversation with someone who thinks outside the box

(If this is you BTW and you like what you see, pop us a message....just don't use "hey How are you!")

My preference is to say something that has been triggered by something in their profile. Of course this assumes that they've written an interesting profile that has something to hook onto.

Do not send the same information I can read on your profile.

Comment on what you like.

Be yourself.

Be positive.

Comment on status or something we've written for sure, lets us know you've actually read the profile.

Take a chance.

And finally... Do not send a dick pic on first mail. I get way too many badly taken dick pics.

My VERY FIRST chat-up line was..

“So tell me, do you like bread?”

I still use it today!

I maybe send a couple of opening messages a month. As someone said above, the thing that prompted me to message them would be the topic.

Could be a status update, a forum post, photo or bio etc. If I'm messaging it's because something caught my eye and I'll lead with that.
