Hi all

Something I've been thinking about for a while (like decades) but never seen mentioned is an overlap between witchcraft and swinging. Obviously various beliefs/religions have always had a place for sex magic, but I've never really seen it mentioned on any swinging sites. Our profile picture occasionally gives rise to a comment, although the reality behind it quite often pops that bubble! I've always had a thing for the idea of sex rituals out in the woods and on the hill tops (part of my reason for moving to Sussex was that it felt a bit.... wilder, then most of the SE) but I wondered if it goes on at all? So any swinging witches/warlocks/druids etc?

hm.. not really heard this talked about much or happen much but there are others out there who most probably partake. I'm not interested in it, although I would say i'm probably closer to a druid than a warlock or witch/wizard lol.

Sex rituals and swinging are not the same thing, though characters like Crowley certainly blur the edges.

Personally, I think it's making sex more complicated than it needs to be.

I read about some fertility rituals (for crops, trees etc) which involved a priest having sex. Sounded like an excuse to get laid to me..

Also some Egyptian rituals that don't get taught about in school involved sex, and one that if I remember right involved the priest or pharoh getting wanked off into the nile.

Also in Egypt, there is a cave painting of a female pharoh having doggy style, not a ritual, just someone decided to paint it

Once met a woman who said she was a priestess... OMG, it was awesome, she kept me awake all night and everytime I came she would go down on me until I was hard again.. It was total cock worship!!! Not swinging, but very different and would not hesitate to enjoy again..

Made cunning plans to go up to Beachy Head for early morning romance on a summer solstice many years ago. It's local to me and know it well, but on arrival just before sunrise I had difficulty parking, it was packed. Hundreds of people, some as druids, others playing drums and flutes, lots of dancing. Hour later all gone, but quite a secretive experience, not unlike swinging

Rumour has it that the long man is used by couples as a fertility aid.

We agree with "_penbicouple,"

There is a difference, sex is not always sex. Rituals, celebrations, ceremonies and symbolic (giving and accepting) go with witchcraft/ pagans.

I find I have different friends/ witches than I do swinger friends because the message is different and communicating it is also different.

If that makes sense.

Xxx

Ah that old chestnut, that's what all the guys would say as an excuse to take partners to the nearby car park after a few drinks at the Ox

People used to actually climb up onto him at night. Lord knows how they managed it in the dark

Well, using the white chalk marking Long Mans legs as a guide, you climb up a leg each until you meet each other at the groin, , , I think that's how the fertility bit comes into it

I personally find that there something very VERY erotic about ritualistic sex! It absolutely stands to reason that something that gives up so much internal and external energy would be used for rituals, rites and celebrations. I’m actually going to delve a bit deeper and do a little bit of research into this.. thank you for peaking my interest! Xx

Are you interested in the spiritual side of it or the sex or both?

Interesting thread Op,

would agree with _penbicouple above, the two do seem to be separate things.

You will probably come across more solitary practitioners here I would say

I think that they are both intrinsically linked, hence why sexual activity is so prevalent in historical and recent cultures and beliefs. I don’t why all a sudden I’ve become so interested to be honest, but I am.. it features heavily in early Christianity, Greek and Roman periods, various Chinese dynasties and loads of current new religious movements and practices such as paganism and Santa Muerte. Since commenting previously, I’ve been delving into this!

It does happen and I have been a witness to a skyclad ritual before in Oxford. I guess it's a personal thing and groups of them can just turn into an orgy or more or less a swingers meeting for the most part, however in terms of sex magick it's probably more a personal thing and not advertised so much.

Beltane festival is probably your best chance. Many covens keep there locations and practices extremly private. You could also try looking for skyclad practices

And I just find the idea of ritualistic sex incredibly horny and very VERY animalistic!

Brighton - even Hove!

There are outdoor places in Sussex whereby like minded folk can meet up. The Long Man at Wilmington does a meet on occasion but no sex is involved. Barrows on hills and deep in woods tends to be the ‘norm’.

Sex magick is a rite that you most likely have been practicing for much longer than you realize. The acts of flirting and seducing, playing dress up or role playing, extending, delaying, or even denying orgasm are all part of this powerful form of magick. For whenever we indulge ourselves in such acts, we allow for the perfect union of physical and spiritual forces to be united. By summoning both sensual passion and intense energy of sexuality, we are able to unlock in ourselves creative potential that is most supernal, and-it goes without saying- supremely pleasurable.

In traditions of the East, sex and desire are seen as means of ascension, used to reach the absolute. Hinduist and Buddhist cultures have a wide range of yoga and ritual practices that exercise sexuality. Sexual fluids were regarded as highly powerful substances, and used in ritual both internally and externally. Sex magick in Western culture has its earliest practical teachings recorded by 19th century occultists. Perhaps the most noteworthy was Aleister Crowley, the British occultist and founder of Thelema, who emphasized sex as “the supreme magical power.” While head of the Ordo Templi Orientis, a secret society which espoused his philosophy of individual liberty, he and taught diverse magickal techniques aimed at the solitary practitioner as well as those of various sexual orientations.

While sex magick can and should be a year round practice, there is no better time to practice and perfect yours than springtime. We also acknowledge sex rites that are traditionally performed at Beltane, May 1st. Sex magick also allows you an extraordinary amount of creative freedom. Creating a sensual space with intention is an important component to your ritual explorations.

Here are some suggestions:

Prepare a cleansing bath with bath salts.

Sweep out the space with a dedicated broom [not one used for regular cleaning] to clear the energy.

Cast a circle of dried rose petals around your bed or the space you intend to use.

Adorn your space with candles, string lights, flowers, sage, and incense.

Wear lingerie, body paint, or any outfits that indulge and empower you and put you in a body positive mood.

Anoint a spell candle, petition, or collage [fantasy or boudoir photos make a great addition!] with romantic oils — hibiscus helps to open the heart, vanilla is known for its’ sensuality and inhibition lowering, and both lemon balm and vervain help to attract love.

If you have a fireplace or fire pit, use these as the center point for your ritual.

Remember what’s most important — to raise your manifestation capacity using sexual energy and at the peak of your session to release that energy in a spell to ask the divine forces to intercede in the life of you, and your partner if applicable.

Whatever magick you create this spring, may it be fiery, sexy, and successful!

Until next time, witches…blessed be!
