Don’t people wink any more?

Returned to the site after a break of a year and, although I’m getting the same amount of traffic and contacts, no-one seems to be winking. Has it gone out of fashion?

Personally I ignore them - if someone can't be bothered to write a sentence or two why should I be bothered with them.

Especially the ones with naff all on their profile & no pics - how on earth would I know if I'm interested in return?

Seems to be largely frowned upon as lazy

We enjoy a wink, but a nicely written DM is better

I wink, not because I’m lazy but because it’s just a simple way of seeing if someone is remotely interested. I’m happy to send messages, but if the recipient is not interested, I have added to their inbox for nothing, wasted their time in reading the message as well as my own time in drafting a suitable message in the first place ( as I do t do cut and paste messages)

If you were meeting someone in a bar or club, you wouldn’t just walk up ti them and blurt out your life story in your first dialogue. You would establish eye contact at least, just to see if there is a “yes I would like to chat” or “no leave me alone” vibe. For me, a wink is just that initial contact to see if you should go further

I don't understand the issue with winks. It's a feature of the site that suggests you've seen someone's profile and want to indicate that you're interested. This gives that person/couple a chance to have a look at your profile and then wink or message back.

So many messages go completely ignored (due to volume and crazy M/F ratio), what's the point of writing a personal message when there's a chance that the other party is not remotely interested in your profile.

If people added enough info to their profile, then winking and profile checking could potentially reduce the number of messages that women and couples receive.
