A lot of threads on these have come and gone on the forums in the past 2+ years I've been around. I can honestly say I've never had an issue myself, a few fakes here and there but they were so very easy to spot within seconds that I barely noticed them.

The one thing that is always the common denominator with those who complain of them, is ... the person complaining... now I'm not saying they are to blame as such, just that ajusting your approach and using the site tools can have dramatic effects on how Fab works for you.

So, old timers and newbies alike, what tips and tricks can you offer to those complaining of timewasters and fakes?

if it is normally "too good to be true".... it normally is....

its not a bad thing to keep up a healthy level of skepticism...

timewasters tend not to have time or patience... why talk to people for weeks or months just to let people down.. they don't tend to think of the long game, if they were going to timewaste they would get their hit there and then...

I think sometimes it's about how much you value yourself as well as what others seem to be offering. You are potentially going to share a very intimate part of yourself with someone, so take the time to find out if the other person is worth that time and willing to put the effort in whether you or they be male or female. If someone is genuine about wanting to meet you then they will be willing to prove to you they are genuine. If they become impatient or seem evasive then walk away and look to meet someone else.

Recently ive learned not to trust pics either since ive had loads of fake pics thrown my way which has given me the impression that the images aren't really checked so im very cautious when I see a guy and think he looks pretty good.

Not came across too much timewasters I have to say but have come across many fakes. Most are easy to spot and easy to avoid. Reporting the fakers sometimes doesn't work and they get to stick around but blocking them fixes that, just a shame for the other users that get tricked by the same fake

Things that ring alarm bells after a few messages:

Couples - only ever the man replying and he only ever refers to his lady in sexual terms

A reluctance to send face pics

Being sent blurred and oddly angled pics

Messages that turn to graphic sexual stuff very quickly

Single women - demanding pics and making constant sexual comments from first contact (often a dude and not a lady)

Reluctance to exchanged numbers, call or text

Restrictions on when you're allowed to call or text (married alarm bell..)

Its usually the newbies to the site that complain about timewasters/fakes. And you can't really blame them. Everyone looks forward to their first meet, the first foot on the ladder so to speak. So when your a newbie and being hounded by fakes, it is a bit off putting.

Someone you chat to and maybe exchange a few pics with, but then things just go quiet ... isn't a timewaster.

They just lost interest as is their perogative.

Either party on Fab can back out anytime they like, it doesn't make them a timewaster as long as things either naturally fade or they tell you they can't make a meet.

I only use my phone for fab, due to family. So using chat rooms for me is not an easy task, old age, touch screen miniscule writing. Omg. Lol.

You can Spot the fakes within a few messages usually by what they say. Like others have said trust your instinct you can't go wrong?!

Just last week i was messaging back and forth with a lass. A couple of things didn't add up but i gave 'her' the benefit of the doubt. 'She' was the one who asked to meet me and when i asked where, 'she' said "at your house". I agreed, and 'she' went offline to get ready, i did a quick tidy up, had a shower and when i went back online to check my mail, i had a msg saying, "haha, fooled you".

I still think 'she' was a newbie even at being fake as this is the FIRST time that all i was made to do was tidy up a bit and have a late shower. Usually they send you miles to a fake address. Lol.

some like to use the timewaster or fake tag as a stick to beat people who turn them down or wouldn't look a them.

We have met people who have had whispers about being fake or are timwasters at socials and surprisingly they are very real just selective over whom they meet.

So many men grunt timewaster after the exchange of messages and not getting any place. The reality is they have been assessed and deemed not suitable to meet for many reasons.

I do smile reading threads like this as they are half the time full of disgruntled people who are not really genuine tolerant swingers themselves.

Slightly puzzled by that last bit (not difficult, I'm easily confused). The thread is people sharing their tips and tricks or how they whittle down real meets rather than the usual 'you're all timewasters' threads.

As with anything everyone will have a different approach and also vary that approach depending on the circumstances, people and profiles involved and moon phase. I certainly do

Sadly there is no sure-fire way to avoid fakes and timewasters. You do get a feel for the fake profiles after a while as they do tend to have certain things in common. But the only way to be certain that you are meeting someone the same sex, size, and age as their photos is to meet them, and sometimes even the nicest sounding people chicken out of meets.

I think people have their own interpretation of timewaster. Postponement, going quiet would be classed timewasting to some, whilst others, myself included, would only class a timewaster as someone not turning up at a specified time/venue.
