Thank you's - have they become old fashioned?

Suffolk - East Anglia

We both play with other couples and invariably the evening starts with a light or full meal. When we've enjoyed this at other couples homes we always send a message or a card to say thank you. Usually we get a thank you when we've entertained but some couples don't bother even though they wish to meet us again.

It goes without saying that we don't swap verifications when other couples can't be bothered to send a thanks message.

Are we being too old fashioned in our view of exchanging thank you's? We will still continue sending a thank you but wanted to know how others felt about this.

We don't send a card but if we have had a nice evening with a couple we will always text them then next day. If we have been at their house we will always say thanks for having us.

That's great, not just us being old fashioned then.

Don't they thank you at the end of the evening/meet? I always walk away with a 'thank you, i've had a lovely time and lets do it again sometime soon'.

I certainly don't see the need to go out and buy them a card for letting me fuck them! (unless it was a birthday fuck of course).

But if they made us dinner and very welcome, surely to send them a card is only polite?

I think basic, socially essential manners in general have become old fashioned, or at least and heading that way. A few weeks ago I saw the following exchange in town, where a youngish looking lad (late teens/early twenties) approached an older fella (mid thirties?) in the street for a cigarette, and the scene unfolded something thus:

'Hey ya got a fag?'

'Yeah I have'

'Giz one'

'Is there a ''please'' in there?'

'Wot?'

'Do ya say ''please'' when you ask for somethin?'

'Don't get cheeky prick'

'What if I do?'

'I'll break your fuckin' jaw mate'

'Go on then, I'm on my own, come on'

'Fuckin' prick'

(Young lad walks off)

When you request something from someone, what you're basically asking them to put themselves out for your benefit, even if only slightly. This is essential however for a proper society to function, all working together and helping each other out, and all you have to do in order to grease the wheels is show a little appreciation in return, and thats all most people will ask for - it doesn't belittle you in any way just to remember your pleases and thankyous.

Good manners don't cost nothing. A please and a thankyou will always get you a long way in life i say.

Of course it is. I'm assuming your the female of the couple? And thats where men and women differ, women think of those small, meaningful things and us guys just don't.

I am sat here wondering just how many people are horrified by the thought of this !

Not by the thought of saying 'thank you' but at the thought of having dinner (light or otherwise) with someone you may wish to shag

Oh and for the record, it's nice that you do thank people for their hospitality.

Politeness in general is something that is often overlooked.

I wouldn't send a thank you card. It's far easier to yell it through their letterbox the next day.

THANKS FOR LAST NIGHT. AWESOME BJ
