Nope, we have a joint profile here so there would be absolutely no reason or need for him to cheat.

Probably not.

My wife can have all the sex with other guys she wants, just as long as I'm kept in the loop.

Trust is almost impossible to restore, and once it's broken, things will never be quite the same again. But trust her, I do - she has often said that the moment this lifestyle starts creating any kind of problem, we're giving it up.

Fucks are fucks, but a relationship is an entirely different matter.

I would sit down and have a heart to heart and ask him why he felt the need to cheat, then base how we move forwards upon what he told me.

I did. I don't know that i would if it happened again.

I don't understand blanket answers to this question. No situation is black and white.

Being kept in the loop is the important thing for things to work and the trust remain and be rebuilt

In a perfect world we would turn cheaters into Servitors from the Warhammer series. Either that or put them in a concentration camp. So no, I wouldn't forgive such sub-human scum.

Nothing good comes from cheating, this is most people’s experience and as others have said, it’s not a binary answer; the reality is nuanced and entirely dependent upon the complexities of that relationship.

That said, cheating as a swinger or person/s in the lifestyle has always baffled me, I can’t get past it being the ultimate betrayal.

If you’re in the trusting and committed headspace that’s essential for this lifestyle and you’ve found someone who’s also in the same headspace; you’re together in this sphere of trust and one of you cheats on the other!

Unforgivable in one’s humble opinion and I for one never forgave and have never forgotten.

Probably not, no.

Forgiveness is a difficult concept and I don't think it's always necessary in order to move on with your life or relationship. It doesn't always have to come with bitterness though and sometimes even if you forgive you can't stay together

Nobody's perfect, no relationship is ever perfect, and sometimes you have to put work in to fix things. So it would depend on the circumstances.

The whole "one strike and you're out" thing just sounds like lack of self-confidence to me.

Need to define what cheating is especially in this lifestyle.

I think I could excuse a fumble, a kiss, even a fuck. If that’s all it was, that’s excused by the very nature of being mammals, and as much as we like to think we can control animal instinct we have to admit that it’s there somewhere and it can control us.

If it was more than that, dates, meals, conversations, laughs and jokes, those are the things that make a relationship, those are the things that hurt when it comes to thinking about what goes on when a partner cheats, those are the things that are difficult to forgive.
