Yup, we had something arranged last night. Drove A fair way, nothing for 30 minutes after the arranged time then the cheek to say about 20 mins away and did we fancy a quick 10 mins play.

Disrespectful and just plain arsehole behaviour.

A nice idea, but wildly open to abuse.

For example,

The OP arranged a meet, didn't show.

How do you prove otherwise without the site having to do a massive amount of investigation?

But if you've not seen or met them it wouldn't be a valid verification. So use your notes and block and forget

Regrettably it seems all too common in here at the moment, I really don’t know what’s happened to the site.

My good lady had a meet arranged a few weeks ago, he was well verified and he even chose the night and time. He then got in touch to say he was stuck at work and would be 2 hours late, he really expected my wife to sit around for 2 hours like a lemon waiting till 9pm for him on their first meet.

Other guys either haven’t even bothered to get in touch or simply fail to turn up. Fab should be a lot stricter and kick these guys from the site and block them from setting up a new profile or even better be a subscription only site and you have to get site verified when you join and allow us to openly discuss people who have failed to meet or just mess people around.

Rant over.

Seriously, did you expect the guy to leave his work to meet your wife. I would think his job comes first.

I think it really depends on what your definition of time waster is. We have had plenty of people go quiet after agreeing to meet but not arranging an exact date or time, but we don't have an issue with people turning up when we make plans.

We were stood up twice in the early days but now we’re much stricter on our filters and we have put in place more safeguards.

Not happened again for a while now.

Perhaps a flagging system. So three strikes by separate accounts and the site automatically black marks them.

Saves the abuse factor as mentioned previously.

Because they really do ruin it for everyone.

I think people rely on fab too much personally. The word time waster gets thrown around too much. Maybe change your approach.

Someone getting stuck at work is completely different to a time waster, it was obviously something that needed to be done urgently, or some kind of emergency, and he did the right thing by staying at work to do what needed to be done. Do you really think that he should have ignored his work and let down his colleagues and/or customer to meet your wife?

Another way of looking at it, from a more understanding and empathetic point of view, is that you arranged a meet with someone who unfortunately, through no fault of his own, had to stay at work 2 hours later than he planned to because there was an urgent situation he needed to resolve, although he could have left work and left it up to someone else to deal with he selflessly chose to stay and deal with it himself. He had the good manners and consideration to inform you that he was stuck at work and asked if you’d be willing to meet 2 hours later than planned, but despite this person showing a responsible and considerate attitude and selflessly putting the needs of others before his own your wife couldn’t be bothered to put herself out for him by waiting for 2 hours because she’s too important to wait around and doesn’t want to know anyone who doesn’t pander to her every need and desire.

Rant over

My definition of a timewaster these days is someone who spends more time complaining about timewasters than they do looking at their own approach and asking why they have so many no shows?

I've been here 7 years and never had a no show or been one and every time one of these threads appears it's pretty obvious I'm not unique as many others have never had this issue either.

If some people are continuously being let down while most others are not there is usually a common denominator.

From the thousands of threads on this subject the common assessment is that the less you chat, the quicker you want to meet and how selective you are in who you chat to has a direct effect on how many no shows you will have.

Beyond that I've never wasted my time or anyone elses on here.

If anyone’s a timewaster in this situation it’s you, the man did absolutely nothing wrong and it was you who chose to cancel the meet. 9pm isn’t particularly late and I’m sure your wife could have kept herself amused for 2 hours somehow, worst case scenario is that she had to sit for 2 hours in the pub that they were meeting at having a few drinks, listening to the radio or a podcast or chatting with some of the regulars, what you see as ‘sitting around like a lemon’ I see as having a couple of hours relaxing in the pub.

Strictly speaking, I wouldn't call this guy a time waster. At least he did contact you, given his reason and option to meet later. A time waster would simply don't show up and ignore you, even block you.

A time waster can say all the right things, till the point of meet, then they don't show up. This happens a lot especially towards t-girls when the so called str8 man got cold feet last second.
