Finally looks like my daughter may be moving out. So I’m thinking of selling and buying a narrow boat. How many other on here live on the canals and do you get to meet many people and play. I love the idea of travelling as I used to be a driver away from home and loved seeing new places and meeting new people. Love to hear any stories

Great idea but look into it with detail as can have many problems eg mooring fees work issues harder than living in house etc

Difficult to get doctors and dentists. Vets if you have pets. Mortgage is difficult from no fixed abode if you want to get back on the property ladder. Credit card and banks will not send letters to PO Boxes. Other than that we did it for a year and loved it.

That depends how much you travel. I know people who have a permanent mooring and travel sometimes but come back "home". The mooring has a car park and people still have a car there.

I had a hook up meet on a narrow boat a few years back. Quite secluded. Was told where to park to get access to the canal where the boat was moored. Met by the car and followed the guy to his boat. Certainly good idea for entertaining visitors inconspicuously.
