I think the OP means that if people put in their age range on the profile then it helps anyone messaging know if they should or not

It's not a criticism of people who don't care about age, it's of people who do care about age but don't put it on their profile to stop unwanted messages

Ultimately I don't care, just thought I'd clear up that confusion

Because u may set your age preference for say 60 and someone who is 61 is perfect. So u miss out. So what do you do? Out 61 and someone who is 62 is perfect. Where do u draw the line? Has someone upset u lol

Cos I don’t want to limit myself due to age with the people that can contact. It’s unlikely I’ll meet people outside 15 years either side of me, but I don’t wanna stop people on the fringes contacting me.

I can see that you’d be annoyed if someone said 18-99 and then said you’re too old, but perhaps they are looking for 70 year olds that look like someone else?

In a similar vein, I think it’s ridiculous that people put those silly legal warnings at the end of their profile. They are meaningless and just clog up the system.

I'm not sure why it's lazy. I'd say it's a choice not to exclude anyone purely based on their age. In my case, it's probably most likely I'd get along with and want to meet someone in their 30s or 40s, but why put it to some arbitrary range of, say, 30-49 just for the sake of it? It doesn't mean I'm looking to meet someone who is 99, but where do you draw the line? I probably wouldn't expressly search for someone in their 50s or 60s, but a few years ago had a great experience with a stunning woman at a club who I was 58. Why go out of my way to exclude meeting someone?

Likewise, I know people in the 18-25 age range who are probably more mature and interesting than some ten years older than them. Again it's less likely I'd meet someone from that group or that we'd have much in common, but why arbitrarily rule them out?

I take the "18-99" as a sign that the person has no particular age preference.

But i've been a few days or months out of their age range, which was frustrating as you then can't even message them. If it was 10 years difference fair enough but people don't change that much over a few months. Age shouldn't matter, it should come down to the individual. But I know women and couples get loads of messages so it's a quick way to whittle it down to your own preference. Us single men don't have that problem!
