Hey all. Not sure if this is the place to ask but are there such things as BDSM workshop type events where you can learn for experienced people who know what they're doing?

Thanks

There is literally hundreds ran every weekend up and down the country. Best bet is to sign up to the fetish lifestyle website, the events page on there is brilliant, can search by dates, location, radius. Would also look at groups on there too as lots can be learnt via those as well.

I think the afternoon session has stalls and demo's on, the after party has more demos and a chance to try out all those lovely new toys

Townhouse ran a school of kink session earlier this year for newbies. I’ve just got back from kinkfest, which was amazing, and there’s another weekender, Birmingham fetish weekend, coming up. As someone else said, try FL

I have heard that for the LAM workshops you have to prebook or be at the front of the queue, and the queue forms early.

BDSM is such a broad field as the term implies Bondage and Discipline, Domination and Submission, and sado masochism. I have seen people use sl and master, and other terms. These areas can overlap or each be done separately. Throw in the skills aspect from rope to flogging to wax to chains to humiliation, and the diffetent variety D/s relationships it creates large field to exlore.

The British podcast Vanilla to Vixen has a good conversation on their taster of the sensation side of BDSM in Vanilla To Vixen Episode 032 - "Whips And Chains Excite Me", may be of interest.

That’s hard because of fab’s rules on linking to another site, unfortunately, but they’re all in event listings on the site people keep mentioning.

Fab is anti BDSM and it is very difficult to give anything but really basic advice.

To be fair FAB is swinging site, or supposed to be.

If you wanted to know about rock climbing you wouldn't go to a site about parachuting would you?

It's not tinder either but plenty of single on single hook ups too. And since when can't you mix BDSM and swinging? They are not mutually exclusive.

Absolutely and there was always a lot of crossover much as a lot of BDSMers will deny it.

To be fair, firstly Fab (to use your analogy) is an outdoor sports site, and people use it for all kinds of activities, not just parachuting.

Secondly, although I do think there is a difference between "classic" BDSM and the "swinger/porn" take on BDSM, swinging and BDSM are now co-existing. Most of the "classic" BDSM events in London and South East which I have attended the last 7 years (and not held at a swingers club) have had a couples room. Most swingers clubs have a BDSM lite or a BDSM fullfat night. At the moment the crossover is huge, and I don't blame 50SOG. :-

Definitely this. Munches are a great way to find out about where others attend workshops too.

"Fullfat night"

The lady who introduced me to this site is one who runs all sorts of events via the other one. I did expect this place to be more BDSM friendly. Bit shocked when interesting (to me) threads were zapped!

I like my play like classic Coca-Cola.

There was a time I kept being zapped for being helpful in answering people's BDSM questions or debating with the ignorant. The constant suspension is why I stopped taking out a paid Fab membership.

The good thing is that there are now more knowledgeable people on this site helping spread the understanding BDSM and contributing positively.

Same here, banned quite often while a site supporter. It's even worse if you organise socials.
