I’ve always accepted it as what most couples want.

If hubby doesn’t actually join in then by being there he can share in the experience of his wife getting fucked by a different guy if a different way to how they usually play

That’s pretty much how mine have happened when hubby as been there to watch. Like the OP as I’m more focussed on his wife it doesn’t bother me hubby being there.
