How prevalent are STI’s

Just wondering how common STIs are within the community? Obviously the more sensible take regular test but there will always be those that are careless…

Love bareback but their general attitude towards sex tells you a lot of forthcoming STIs.

In 2020, an estimated 128.5 million new infections with Chlamydia trachomatis occurred worldwide among adults aged 15 to 49 years. The global prevalence among people aged 15–49 years was estimated to be 4.0% for women and 2.5% for men in 2020. Chlamydial infection is more common in young people.

UK prevalence of STIs varies by area but London is 1127 per 100,000 of the population. So over 1%.

(Bettertoknow.co.uk, 2023).

So increase those rates by what 3 or 4 times in the swinging community ? I don't know.

I know SH.UK ask questions about sex parties when you request your test kit. Do they collate and publish that data.

Not forgetting that not every swinger attends sex parties.

I've actually found a 2010 British Medical Journal Article on the subject.

Overall, combined rates of Chlamydia and gonorrhoea were just over 10% among straight people, 14% among gay men, just under 5% in female sex workers, and 10.4% among swingers. And female swingers had higher infection rates than male swingers.

Worth a read. Also should point out the clinics that the figures are based on were actually in the Netherlands. Also being 13 years old and the general increase that has been seen in infections in that time.

I'd say they are very common, loads do bareback without even asking if you've tested, or say they are clean but have no proof to back it up. I also bet there's loads who have something and don't even know as can have sti with no symptoms.

People say they only have full sex with condom, but happy for oral without protection, or rubbing genitals on each other etc etc.

I doubt anyone is going to comment saying they have/had something, or post about having something, bit I maybe wrong x

Well we think it would be the honest thing to do, if your test comes back positive then surely your BIG enough to let your previous partners know (if you can)

Plus how many actually test regularly, it’s easy here in Wales as it’s a free service and they text you your results within a couple of days

the simple truth is we will never know as the majority of any population will never get tested in there lifetime ...

also its in the interest of charities and health to overplay the risk as this is how they get money..

there loads of info on line from gov to nhs to charities ...

the only true way of staying safe is to be tested regular condoms are safer sex not safe sex there alot more ways to transmit other than cock or fanny ... some sti can be caught from sitting on a shared toilet

I'm not sure about the current prevalence rates, but when I worked on websites for a while about 7 or 8 years ago the Terence Higgins Trust website had lots of very accessible info about all STIs, the good practices and the high risk groups and activities to avoid. It might be worth looking it up.

its still relative low statistic vs the population count to catch something , for general people unless you are out there fucking 7 days a week month in month out with multiple people and from

listed high risk sections of society such as / African/Nigerian men/ bisexual men / swingers etc .

Also note certain regional areas carry higher risk rates .. you can get this data from places like Dean Street sexual health services in london a roadmpap of hot spots

Sex is always a risk but not much different than people using mobile phones driving/ speeding driving / smoking/vapting/drinking/drug using / poor lifestyle diest/overweight etc all these things carry risk to us health wise but we all still do some of them to some degree ..

Regular testing (60 days minimum at least (ideally monthly if you are active frequently ) look into preventive treatments / Prep/Vaccines hpv/hep b booster / condoms/dams if you are super safe inclined etc

Be honest with partners about risks .. enjoy yourself ..

We used to do a lot of bareback group stuff on previous profile, and we was lucky enough to stay clean!

and my guy used get them to send proof of testing and all clear before he would give the location then ask to see the proof again in person, had a couple try to forge proof but he spotted that luckily and they got asked to leave or watch only lol

Do know of someone who had similar experience but ended up with clymidia though so it's always a risk unprotected! Xx

It's not full proof as they could have potentially met someone after the test but its as good as you're going to get lol x

We always ask for the 10 Test and ask for any playing partners to do the same.

Friend of ours used to do the usual chlam and gon tests which were always clear then caught mGen from a partner .

Luckily cleared up with doxy and azith but these are increasingly becoming less effective .
