Winks: waste of time?

Hey everyone, are winks a waste of time? I like to use them to express interest and then, if I get a wink back I’ll send a message. If I receive a wink, if interested I do exactly that. What are other people’s thoughts? I’ve sent a wink after receiving one & then been blocked which seems odd!

We've had a few winks that have lead to meets, however 99% don't. We return some winks and it ends there, a few follow up with a message, then only a small percentage of those lead to a meet. You're better off sending a thought out message with a bit of substance.

They’re useful, I reversed them, I wrote on my profile don’t wink so I know if they do wink they didn’t read the profile, it’s one of the best filters I found

We use winks as to show interest, we get loads of winks where the other person doesn't have any photos and not much info about them, these type seems like a waste of time

If someone were to drop you a wink in lieu of sending a message, as they were going to the same event as you and had noted that you say that you ‘sometimes play with single men’ in clubs.

But equally, as your profile doesn’t list men as a preference didn’t want to cross your boundaries chose not to message, but instead wanted to make it clear that they’re very attracted to you?

This is such a minefield, hypothetical of course.

I'd like to think that winks weren't a waste of time, but everytime someone winks me, I've winked or messaged back, then pretty much no response

Hypothetical but you're on the list for Club Play . Personally when we have the filter off we've never replied to a wink from a "single" guy (we're more likely to reply to a couple), but we have replied to a few messages and met them.

Some people like to use them to demonstrate an interest.

Most women and couples won't even check them though.

We've had some good meets that started with a wink.

But we do find at the moment people wink us, we wink back then nothing.... I wonder why they bothered winking in the 1st place.

Yes I find that. I receive a wink, I reply back thanking for their wink and introduce myself, then my message is deleted. Sometimes it's the case that the recipient is bombarded with messages and have bulk deleted. It's just kne of those things. Don't let it bother me now.

If your inbox was slow, ie a couple getting less messages than a single fem, then I can see the value of winks. For me, winks are useless. I never remember to check them. I don't even remember to check fabs!

We use winks to show interest in other couples however we are starting to realise that not many people actually check winks so I’ve (female) started to just send messages instead

I send winks to show that I’m enjoying what I’m seeing and that I like your profile. Equally as a single fella on here the odd wink can help me feel less invisible and unwanted. ( not seeking sympathy here just being factual)

Largely yes but then again so is spending ages writing out lovely personalised messages based on someone's profile. I can send loads of winks on the basis that a small amount might respond and save my precious time writing to couples who might respond.

I have had mixed results off winks, both ways.

Some respond to them, some dont.

I suppose it is quicker and less time consuming than a message for both parties.

Imo - they're only a waste if time if you do nothing about it after receiving one.

I think it shows some interest and usual either wink back or send a message.

We've had conversations off the back of winks from couples, with the prospect now of meeting up, so they can be a way to start engaging

If the sum of their interest adds up to hitting a wink button and nothing more, the odds are they weren't interested enough for me to want to meet them

I do send a few winks and if one is reciprocated I'll drop a message. It can be hard to get a ladies or couples attention as in know females can get 100s of messages daily and I'm sure most couples get similar.

I understand people’s thoughts on winks being a lazy option rather than a message but it has opened up conversations for me personally and I do check mine … so if I receive a wink I will read their profile and then send a message if I feel like we have some common ground etc.

No, winks aren’t waste of time. It takes few seconds to wink. It’s just an express of interest to get into chat. If I wink and get wink back - I’ll go for text messages.

If I get a random wink I’ll wink back, text or ignore based on initial attraction to a profile.

For these who says winks are lack of efforts and laziness I assume you’d think the same if someone smile/wink your way at the bar/pub/social. If so, I am treating that as my loss and moving on.

In the past few weeks. Had more response from winks . I see if get wink back. Then send message with wink in subject bar. At least then ? Who I send message , can check they have sent wink back to me ?. As others have said you can send the best message ever. But will it actually be read. Especially if female or couple have had loads of messages.

It's often difficult to understand why someone might send a wink as they can mean different things to different people.

In the past I've sent one, got one back and so followed up with a message only to be ignored.

Or after receiving a wink out of the blue, reply back with the same result, so now I ignore them
