Why do some people message and then withhold any details about themselves?

Do you have any photos? “Yes” (doesn’t send them)

Who’s this?: “Me” or “first name” (no further details).

Tell me about yourself: “I’m white and this age”.

It’s like getting blood from a stone trying to get some people to explain who they are and why they’ve messaged me. Does anyone else get this?

We have had similar with other couples ,where we ask questions and they're really cagey about giving any details or sending pics of the male

We're not asking really personal stuff either ,but it's a good filter I guess and we just move on when it's too much like hard work

Then when they do message, it's always one or two monosyllabic words...

I think "I'm better in person" might be worse. If the messages are bland, why would you want to meet/play?
