Yes they’re real, just extremely hard to find and maintain, I’ve had two, it takes a lot of openness and honesty, something beyond difficult to find

I know a lovely mmf trio that have been together for years.

They're more common and sustainable in swinging than poly.

Are they always made up of 2 women, 1 man?

I've met a genuine throuple. Two bi guys and a woman. They're all in a long term relationship. Works for them.

"Are they always made up of 2 women, 1 man?"

No they can be any mix of gender, the personalities tend to make a difference longer term more than what’s in their pants

I had a profile with a lovely couple from here for a while. I’m not sure if we classed as a throuple but it was very nice nonetheless.

I’ve heard of the odd one but don’t tend to see it often. Or is it something people tend to keep quiet? Just wondering

My friend was part of a throuple for a while, they all enjoyed. I’d be up for it (along with most of the male human race!)

Some friends of ours are a throuple. Two women and a guy. The two women are married to each other and one of the women is engaged to the guy. They can't get legally married but they can have a symbolic 'wedding'. They all live together very happily.

Yes, my closest friend is. Husband, partner and her. I had no idea till their daughter explained 'this is where daddy sleeps' (points) 'this is where mummy sleeps' (points), 'and this is where Aunty Emily sleeps'

I think they’re always going to be very rare, as essentially they need a six-way mutual attraction (without any significant imbalance), unlike a couple where it’s only two-ways.

It’s been something I’ve actually sought out before. But I think couples like the idea more than the reality

Being Poly I've seen a few throuples. Can't say how common they are.

Seen one that is 20+ years and going strong.

Have seen others fall apart and things can get complicated as only 2 of the throuple tend to be on the paperwork for homeownership etc.

In theory it seems like the ideal scenario is 3 single people that start dating together at the same time.

My wife is poly and wanted this, but to alpha Males in one house just didn't work. Boundaries were not respected and always felt like a power struggle.

It wasn't for us in the end but am sure with the right people it's possble

So maybe there is like a power thing that goes on inside it. Like only room for one alpha?

Potentially, it was the case for us and we tried to keep it stable but and maybe because children where involved it just became to difficult

My wife and I were ready to be in a thruple twice during our marriage . We would do it again if the right person came along .

This is what has led us to this lifestyle
