I can't agree that age is 'just' a number. It's significant throughout our life, determining when we can legally do certain things, when we can claim state pension, start and leave school, perceived maturity etc.

Away from fab very few men (I know there are exceptions) in their twenties, thirties even forties would meet a woman my age socially or take me to the pub and introduce me as their date. The same applies in reverse, if I took a man of 20 to meet my friends they'd assume he was my grandson and I'm pretty sure their reaction would be shocked if I said I was meeting him for sex.

The generations don't tend to mix well, even on fab many older people actually want to meet younger...if they didn't all us 60 somethings would be meeting each other.

Having since espoused the bugger that for a game of soldiers" view"point, I'm feeling a darn sight fitter than I did back then; admittedly having a partner (back then) who was 30 going on 60 didn't help.

What did help was the frequent "you're never old enough" that I used to get when telling people about my 20-something (age!) offspring. So while I agree that the age on your documents is not just a number, I'd say that where you are in your head is important when you're trying to get on in Fabs world.
