We get that it's hard breaking the ice on here but recently Someone sent a message that said exactly where we were, personally I found it a little creepy but what are your thoughts?

You mean they recognised you when you were out or they were able to tell where you live?

"We were camping and they knew which campsite "

Had you posted that you were camping? That plus the “see who’s near” function on here may have been enough.

Yes if it says “touching distance “ it would have been a lucky guess. But it would be the way they messaged you that could make it creepy or intriguing

Possibly from "who's nearest"

Yeah it was almost certainly the who's near function it was turned off shortly after receiving the message but even a message saying I've noticed your nearby is far less creepy than hi are you at ....... Naming the exact place

I guess if the site is secluded from others it would be easier to figure out? I’m picturing somewhere on the moors for example…then if he’s sat in his cowshed entertaining himself….

Hopefully the site is busy and you have safety in crowds etc!

That's a sure way to cock block your self. It's not rocket science to work out if people are probably on the same resort/site. By all means say Hi. Maybe say we seem to be localish at the moment. But when you point out the site or even worse something like I think I seen you or your the couple in the green tent etc, that's creepy and not welcome. After all they may be there with a family and its just not nice. If you can see they're location(ish) they can see yours. So they talk to you about locations futher down the line if they're intrested in a meet and you have built a rapport.

Same goes with people who live close or even the same street. It's really bad form to say you know where they live or recognise them until and unless you've established a good rapport first and arranged a meet.

That’s ridiculously creepy!! Can’t say we’re shy or embarrassed but we really wouldn’t want people approaching us randomly in public about fab or messaging us on here saying they know where we are etc.

So creepy and disturbing! What’s wrong with some guys

As people have said, it’s probably from the ‘who’s near’ but it could/should have been done way better than that. A conversation may possibly have lead to that but to just come out with it is weird, creepy and probably tells

You everything you need to know about the person who sent it. Block and move on. Hope the OP is ok and not too creeped out.

From what you’ve said …. The sender was close, you had your location turned on so others can identify where you’re close to… it did its job. Was there something more that was creepy ?

"We were camping and they knew which campsite "

They made a guess, which in rural location isn't hard to do when someone is out of area.

My general reply is something along the lines of:

"Not quite, but we'll done on figuring out the 'who is near' option, while managing to ignore it's deliberately not always accurat to stop weirdos like you creeping people the fuck out."

I had someone introduce themselves to me in Tesco and say I’ve seen you on FABs, that was the most creepy experience for me to date.

Had something similar to this yesterday. Someone nearby messaging that the pavement in our video doesn't look like a street close by to us. Actually naming the street! Obviously using the nearby button trying to guess where we live. It is just creepy. Block and forget.

I mean my mum is awesome and is supportive of my life and adult stuff but it’s the principle of some retard going off like it’s fine in public ..

funnily enough I saw him outside the shop with his girlfriend / wife so I went and scolded him infront of her, let him handle an angry mrs asking him etc was that about
