Really want to learn how to tie the Mrs up safely.

I have ropes (I climb) so am also pretty good with knots...

Would really like to find a couple to show me the ropes! Not looking for sexual play, no hidden agendas.

Any couples out there willing to show me a few?

Jay

There's regular workshops in Edinburgh.

Look at the events section on f 3 t li f 3

Best bet is to go on that FETish LIFEstyle website and use the events section. We used to run a rope event in Yorkshire and still have rope contacts if needed.

You can get the ball rolling by looking up a few basic tutorial videos on YouTube.

Single column ties, double column ties, Futomono etc.

For the higher risk ties in-person teaching is essential but for decorative harnesses, then I particularly like the pace and style of Rory's Brainworx.

Sorry, just realised you're in Bilston West Midlands and not the Bilston just south of Edinburgh!

MRK (masterropeknot) is your neck of the woods I think... I'm sure he'll pop up when he spots this thread.

He's a great teacher and has been known to run workshops, he's been involved in peer rope stuff for years to.

(A quick forum search for him shows he's started a Wolverhampton peer rope event...)

Check out Xstasia.

Years ago they did a peer rope workshop that I used to attend but I'm not sure if it's still running

Alternatively check out knotty boys on the tube

As others have said, peer rope groups are a good place to learn. From my experience, climbing or sailing ropes are generally not ideal for shibari.

Also the ties are different from conventional bowlines, round turn and two half hitches etc. It is important to allow space in some ties so the blood flow isn't cut off.

That said if you work with rope it's a good starting point, just a little different.
