Lost count of the number of times I've messaged someone who's winked at me, only to be completely ignored

Sorry, I disagree. I know some see it as lazy, but it is an unoffensive way of showing interest. I find sometimes when you message, then an offence is taken, even when you mention something in their bio.

No.

I may ignore, or look at the profile and block, but that doesn't mean I'm offended.

I ignore because I never respond to winks.

If I look and find a profile where I'd never choose to interact with them in a million years, I'll block. That's not the wink, though, it's me becoming aware of a profile I don't want to interact with.

I think OP meant random winks in public? If that's the case, no I don't get offended. But it does make me feel a bit awkward.

On here though, I welcome winks and send them. We have on our profile that a wink shows interest and we'll wink back if there's mutual interest. Wouldn't send one to anyone who states on their profile that winks mean nothing to them or they never check them. Then it's straight to message.

Naturally they may not be for us or we're just not in a place where we are looking to meet new people at that time. If so generally we won't wink back or message back. But that's not because we're offended and also doesn't necessarily mean we're not attracted to them. I really can't see how anyone would be offended?

I prefer a wink as I get to check out the profile and see if there is a mutual interest.

However, I have also blocked people who winked because we have no compatibility and completely opposite views or go against what I'm looking for.

But in all seriousness no, it is a good chance to look at their profile and see if you think you might be interested

For us, winks from or to a couple are a legit method of expressing first interest, if reciprocated then open a chat and see where it goes. Winks from single guys, just don't.

I’m always unsure what to do with winks. I generally get them off of people who say on their profiles that I’m not what they’re looking for….

So if I don’t match your “looking for” but you wink or fab, does that mean you want to chat?

Just message me!

How could anyone be offended, I take it as a compliment even if it's from a gay or bisexual man who I'm never going to meet. I wish they were used more, I have no problem with writing someone a nice decent and respectful message but it would be nice to know that they liked my profile enough to be happy to receive a message from me. It gets a bit disheartening writing personalised messages that are ignored so greater use of winks would stop my time being wasted and any disinterested recipient from having their mailbox clogged up with messages they are never going to read.

I'm not offended by them but then again I rarely look at them. Last time I did there were some from weeks before that I hadn't noticed.

I never respond to them unless it's someone I'm already chatting to.

Random friend requests are more annoying and I don't accept any of those either.

The question for us is, should we respond with a message or a wink back, is a wink back alone lazy?

The other issue is the occasional accidental wink, we’ve done that a couple of times, maybe thats why some get a wink and block, the winker panics
