I've placed a couple of 'would like to meet' adds on Carigs' list and all I get are unintelligible emails with pics found on Google, asking to register with some bullshit website. Does this happen to everyone or am I simply destined not to get laid?

No it happens to everyone. There are a couple of genuine ads but most are bollox if ull excuse my french.
