I read someone's ' flirty' profile and they seemed to be bragging that they were blocking everybody so I inquisitively asked why and she got on her high horse and blocked me ! Question ? Why? And do people get a buzz out of blocking ?

i can certainly cope with it but understand irrational behaviour is something else ! Yes people can use this site anyway they wish but surely good manners is a must ?

How is it good manners?

You questioned them on how they use the site and why they block people....

We state clearly any random friend invites and we will block and we do.

You wouldn't walk up to a stranger and ask to see their personal photos and we wouldn't dream of doing it either.

Don't let it get to you and move on to the next profile x

Depends. Your idea of good manners is for someone to tell you why they have written what they have written on THEIR profile. My idea of good manners is to leave such people alone to use the site the way they want to.

hold on I never asked to be their friend I questioned out of curiosity why they had a ' liking' for blocking people ! I think you need to read the ' forum statement' before you criticise !

And I am just giving you a reason why we block people.....

If someone messaged us and questioned our profile then I would probably block you.

It's their profile and they use it how they want, they probably got pissed off getting a random message questioning why they block people.

we block everyone who obviously hasnt read our profile before messaging, it saves them sending us another message in a month, and saves our inbox filling up from people we dont want to meet

I block people, its the ones who email me and are not what im looking for and when i email them saying im not interested and explain why, they then keep emailing me saying various nasty things so now i block them after the 2nd email, i also block men who keep on emailing me, some every week, they email as if this is the first time and they often get abusive when i point out that they have already emailed me many times, there often then get abusive, so i block them .... its a simple and esy way to make life here nicer

1 of my single female friends isnt meeting with anyone new; so right now she has asked not to be messaged (ive stuck it on my profile also) but men from 150 miles away still email.

Ive changed my profile as my hotlist & friendslist needs some attention, if I am already tied up for the next x amount of months, why engage in loads of thanks but no thanks as well?

We do same, we used to reply thanks but no thanks then the abusive messages come like was doing you a favour mate coz no one else would fuck your fat wife, so we block straight away don't want to get into that x

So if the profile said that they block people maybe you should have just accepted the fact instead of going down the 'why' route.

No disrespect but that is exactly one of the reasons that the block feature is used so much - because some folks cannot take no for an answer and continually ask 'why, why, why, but, but, why'?

We were getting 70 to 80 messages per day from guys who clearly had not read our profile.

After various drafts making it much more clear we were still getting overwhelmed.

After making it extremely blunt our profile was still getting largely ignored.

Now we simply block - its simple but it works.

Its nothing to do with ego, bad temper, delusions of our attractiveness etc. It simply reduces the vast number of totally unrealistic guys from miles away who look for us to meet or chat.

If they cannot show us some courtesy & READ our profile we feel they deserve little in the way of courtesy in return.

Equally all local guys will receive a polite response.

I have no issue using the block button.

For many a reason.

People who send rude, abusive or just plain pointless messages or who post similar stuff in the forums.

People who have sent polite messages but who aren't for me - I'll always reply first but block to save either of us wasting time in the future.

Serial gawpers of my profile who aren't my type.

Those I've browsed and feel I'm 99% sure I'd never be likely to message.

Blatant fakes.

Or just when I feel like it - because like everyone else - I can !

Not used the Block button yet saving it for someone who actually deserves it.

Few people try their luck but no reason to get upset.

Think some use it as a power trip.

On the other hand some dont use it enough. They'll only use it on real pests. But if more people blocked anyone they definitely won't meet it would stop repeat messages from the same people assuming they are interested but busy.
