Age Conflict in Profile

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I came across a profile via the fab'd pics and read it through (I know, some of us actually do read profiles)

The profile text said "I am 38..." the age against their name said "AGE: 43"

I politely pointed out this error, they responded not overly politely and blocked me?

I'll keep my mouth shut next time

Has anyone else come across big conflicts on profiles (Without naming names)?

And would you say anything?

I see it all the time like 23 yr old lad etc etc and it says he is 25, I wouldn't in those instances but its probably best unless they contact you, not to contact them and tell them

Yes often and I do mention it, the usual reply is 'I put my date of birth in wrong when I joined and cant change it now'

Yep like I'm going to believe anyone is going to forget their own dob.

Not come across this one as such, but I'd always take people's claims on age with a pinch of salt anyway - they might be telling the truth or they might be picking a figure that reflects what they think they look like. I'm not bothered about the number anyway; If I fancy 'em I fancy 'em, an if I don't I don't.

Also, not sure but maybe the site automatically updates your age in your personal details each year? but wouldn't do so if you mention it in your text...

I've always assumed that they did the profile when they joined a year or two ago and haven't changed the write up bit so fabs automatically changed their age but the profile text remains the same. Does sound unlikely if its more than a year or two tho x

I would never message someone and tell them that the ages are wrong in their profile. Some people don't edit their profile text regularly, I don't for one. I can't even remember what it says on ours.

As long as the age group is similar to what I'm looking for them its ok. I wouldn't point out to them that they were a few years out. If I liked the profile I'd just ask them in a message, just as a general chat thing.

And if someone did it to me I have to admit I'd tell them to piss off and block them as well. It would irritate me and there's no point corresponding with people that irritate you

I received a message from someone after he had seen me on cam in a chat room. It was a nice polite message and a pic too. I showed it to Pete who just laughed. The profile was from a guy who said he was 51, the pic he sent us showed a guy who was, no word of a lie in his mid 70s. Now either Pete and I got this badly wrong or this guy was seriously delusional! I did reply a nice reply asking when the pic was taken as I wasnt sure the pic and his age on the profile were correct. He then went on to block us. Oh well! Lol

My minimum age limit was set at 40 before I relaxed it a little. Its aaaaamazing how many men suddenly aged by a few years by magic. Idiots.

You can change date of birth whenever you like. I often change mine to say I'm 95 if I'm feeling antisocial.

Was recently messaged by a guy who turned out to have a number of profiles that stated different ages to get round peoples age filters. I just replied saying I had reported him and then blocked him.

I think the main point is that a few years doesnt matter, or a few pounds

as long as the person IS a likeness as their pic(face pic)

I dont think fab can really enforce anything unless the person is not the person uve seen...thats up to the people who meet really play or dont play.

I met someone who claims to be alot older than she is via the profile...I didnt report her for being HOT and not some nearly a century old woman

One guy mailed me a month or so back ... When I pointed out that I preferred over a certain age, he rapidly pointed out that he was and that he only put the age on site so he would have more opportunities ... When I pointed out that liars weren't my cup of tea, he said he wasn't and was genuine ....

It happens all too often ... Be who you are and not who you pretend ... Lies Invariably triip you up and for me personally, I'd always be wary that if age is lied about .... What else.

You're only as old as you feel, and by the look of our inbox most guys feel 10 years younger than their piccies would suggest.

thinking back - this guy put up a thread and someone on it made a comment really bluntly (needed to be said tho) you so dont look your age stated - something like that

I agree....but what do u do?- ask for birth certs, marriage certs..etc..etc

who else would just find that invasive?

theres a difference in the smallest of white lies to those bordering on ridiculousness.

We look at the ages with a large pinch of salt. We prefer 35 as an upper limit, but we've met a little older.

We use it as a guide.

After all, when I'm on the motorway, 70 is just a guide right? We only put 35 to stop MUCH older guys that we aren't into messaging. It doesn't always work...

It's possible they first wrote that profile five years ago and haven't updated it since..... Hard to believe, but it can and does happen....

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I regularly get messaged off guys who claim to be 38/9 but their pics belie a very different story. I just gently decline.

On another, nameless, site, there are no filters really and anyone can message you. Despite having the same age range posted as on here, I often get boys of 18-20 telling me how good they would be with me. When I decline I am often told but THEY like older women! LOL

Age, size, sexual prefernce, looking for, I see these conflicts all the time if I pointed them out that would take up all my time.

If people want to cook the books that's up to them

If that's the case, they would have said when asked instead of blocking the OP

Yup came across a young female that had 2 different ages on their profile (2year difference). When pointed this out they changed their profile making the age difference 4 years.

Clearly a sad sad man that was crap at maths and couldn't work out what year they had to put in the drop down box to match the age they'd put in their profile text.

Needless to say their profile had "mysteriously" vanished the next day.

maybe they was 38 when they joined and write their profile but have been here 5 years now and every year their age by their name goes up a year but they havnt re written their profile

It really could be that simple

LMFAO YES! some people desperately cling to the embers of their youth which is quite sad really.
