Why do people not know the difference between dominant sex and domination/being a Dom. I find people really get confused on here with descriptions.

Because there is no set in stone definition for any of those?

There are definitions that are more frequently used, especially in the kink/BDSM world but even then, people don't agree.

I'm pretty certain that my definitions of 'dominant sex' and 'being a Dom' are different from yours.

I absolutely agree with Lady Jayne, but I also would like to add that the media promoted very limited stereotype of different bdsm dynamics, which allows many people to participate (good), but doesn't tell them all that there is (bad).

If anyone reaches out to me with wrong assumptions, I usually tell them more and share alot of documents and articles so they can start somrwhere.

Oh don't get me started on book learning...

Maybe it's just me, but if someone wants to scene (in a BDSM sense of the word) and their knowledge is based on porn (specifically films but also erotic fiction) even with some workshops or tutorial YouTube watching... I'm going to decline.

I'm all for 'you do you boo', which is my personal version of YKINMK because it's not just about types of kinks but how we explore them too...

And while I strongly believe there is generally no right way to do something*, there are always safer practices that can be put in place....

Understanding those safer practices takes time, research and learning.

Take ropework for example... I always recommend looking at several different practitioners because different techniques expose or mitigate different risks. But I also recommend researching physiology combined with ropework.

It takes very little rope, pressure or time to cause lasting nerve damage - and rope bondage is practically mainstream/vanilla nowadays!

* Sometimes there can be very specifically correct ways to do things, other times the are absolutely wrong ways to do something... Medical play as an extreme fetish for example, some of those things really need to be done in a specific way.
