Sex events held at pubs/clubs

I recently heard about an occasional event held at a pub where people are allowed/ encouraged to engage in sexual activity.

I thought that this is something that is likely to go against a pubs license.

I know people can rent a private venue and and host a party there, I was just wondering if it is legal for people to rent a pub and host a sex event on the premises.

It isn't something that's advertised or shared on Fab, and I won't be sharing the details of the location, I just wondered if anybody is familiar with the legalities of this kind of situation.

When discussing it with a friend, they felt it was perfectly legal and used events like Torture Garden as an example of an event that hires out a nightclub space and has a couples room where sex is usual.

Love to be proved wrong, but I’d be surprised if something like that was permitted on a pub/club’s regular drinking or entertainment licences. Councils can be very prudish - for instance, I know of a naturist (not swinging) spa where the masseuses are unable to massage naked.

If you're hiring a venue for a private event I doubt it would breach a licence as it would be closed to the public. If it became known it was happening then it would likely draw the attention of the licensing authorities who have the power to revoke a licence on plenty of grounds so you would have to be very careful.

If its a private event and alcohol isnt being sold to under 18's (who wouldnt be attending such an event), then i doubt it goes against a licence.

To be fair, pubs need all.the help they can at the moment

Legal or not why the drana . And if its after closing hours. They can do what ever they wish

If not legal, it’s obviously illegal. If the authorities find out and you are ok with the consequences then that’s the choice made.

They would need a separate license for hosting "adult entertainment" and they're really hard to get. In some areas they're even needed for stripper's shows
