Well I've just been told that for medical reasons I need to be circumcised. I understand the medical side of it but can anyone offer any advice/experience, good or bad, of what I can expect once its been done. TIA.

You'll be fine. The newly exposed head will be extremely sensitive at first. But after about 6 weeks you'll be all ok.

Wear supportive underwear on the day. Salt water baths and keep it clean and dry. No wanking until you are fully healed lol.

"I've just been told I need it doing and showers not baths.

Why would anyone make a joke about it? What is there to joke about? Why did you think you needed to ask people not to make jokes about it?

Would you have said that if you were having any other operation?

Who’s told you that you can only shower afterwards and not have a bath? You’ve obviously done a very basic google search and seen a site incorrectly saying you can’t have a bath. If you’d spent longer than 2 seconds researching you’d have seen the multiple NHS pages that say it’s fine to have a bath as long as you don’t use any soap/bubble bath etc and you don’t stay in the bath for too long. If you were having the operation done then surely you’d have already spoken to a doctor about it and been given advice, but despite that the only thing you know is that you can’t have a bath and that’s not even correct. Very strange.

For your information last poster it was the hospital doctor who said shower not bath.As regards asking for no jokey comments I'm quite aware that some find it amusing to make light of a situation. So you see I didn't do a Google search as you mentioned.

After the initial local anaesthetic you won't feel a thing.

I was apprehensive before my op but it was really straightforward.

After 6 weeks you will be fully recovered.

I underwent the surgery in Feb 2020 under General Anaesthetic, done in a Day Unit at a major hospital. I was home the same day, on pain relief for a few days, banned from doing any heavy lifting for 3 weeks and no "excitement" for 4 weeks, to allow the self dissolving stitches to work.

I was given so much advice on what to do / what not to do afterwards and everything worked out 100% OK for me.

I'm sure you'll be fine!

I got mine done when I was 18, and had pretty much the same experience as above.

Worst part for me was morning erections. I would wake up in pain for the first few days as I was starting to get hard with the stitches in. Not pleasant, but not too bad.

Don't know if anyone else noticed a change when they orgasm, but at the point of orgasm, it would be a powerful and quick feeling. After I was circumcised, the orgasm lasts longer (seconds) but is less intense.

Very interesting convo - are people having this done due to a tight foreskin? At what point do they decide surgery is needed? I’ve considered going to the doc about it as I’ve somewhat got this issue which can lead to swelling etc.

Has it healed ok at an older age getting this done? Something I put off thinking about tbh till I saw this thread.

Have always had a long foreskin and in 2009 I had a frenuplasty due to snapping my banjo all the time. Now my banjo is like a scar and tighter if anything. When erect my bellend is covered still but I can retract my foreskin to mild discomfort. Has led to 3 negatives that can happen:

-When I retract the foreskin past my bellend it causes the head of my dick to bend down. This is all the time.

-Phimotic ring sometimes gets tight at base of my bellend causing discomfort but doesn't get stuck there.

-Phimotic ring can get tight down the shaft causing the dick forward of it to swell uncomfortable. Dick looks like an earth worm that's been stepped on

Think the above causes me to lose erection strength and pleasure. I've never enjoyed blowjobs or women wanking me off due to the above. Condoms use can be touch and go weather they work or not.

I could probably get away with it and have made do with how things are. Dont want to "make do" anymore so am on the NHS waiting list to see an urologist. Never had issues lasting too long or not enough just gets uncomfortable and the performance anxiety related to that.

There's private clinics in London that charge £700 quid and you can select the type of cut you want. Options given include the amount of inner skin you keep and how tight the shaft skin is when erect. Will probably go that option and keep as much skin as possible with nice and tight skin.

I wank with lube as it is due to discomfort levels so no issues there

Had this done a couple of years ago under general anaesthetic- all very straightforward and solves the problems a foreskin can bring.

Only discomfort I had was some slight stinging with the morning wood. But painkillers solved that problem.

Working like new in a matter of weeks.

At first, daily I was feeling a lot more sensations even just walking down the street but that goes.

Sex is great, and much better because in the final months before the operation sex was painful, as my foreskin had lots elasticity.

Wanking is different, less about up and down with retracting skin and more about sensations to the head, some kind of lubricant is often advised but not necessary.

Can I ask some questions to people who have had this done?

1). What actually happens? Do they take you into a room and jag your cock with painkillers or do they knock you out with a brick first? (Nhs remember?).

2). How long does the proceedure actually take? A horrific five minutes or a gruelling ten?

3). Do you have been doped up or can you just have pain relief and enjoy watching them hack part of your cock off?

4). I need it done and I'm 'trying' to find some humour in it somewhere because i'm utterly terrified.

It's an operation. So you will be put under anaesthetic and wake up a few hours later. They'll keep you there for a few more hours, then you go home.

Like any op, it will be painful after, but it's not that bad, and in my case, we'll worth doing.

They put me under general anaesthesic, put the mask on count back, or forward, can't remember now.

I was gone in ten seconds.

Woke up a couple of hours later feeling very very groggy.

I forgot about that first piss at the hospital haha. Felt like flames were shooting out. Wasn't too bad after that first one.

"Well I've just been told that for medical reasons I need to be circumcised. I understand the medical side of it but can anyone offer any advice/experience, good or bad, of what I can expect once its been done. TIA."

Being a none practicing Jew, I had it done when I was less then a week old/ so have never known any different.

I happen to like it that way and more importantly, if you need it done. do it and let yourself look at it as an upgraded willy

Having had this done when I was 37 ish. It's actually not that bad. Take it easy very easy. Don't try to drive for A few weeks. Take some pain killers. Keep it clean. Change the dressing when you can. As already stated....will be very . Sensitive.....it's very weird when your helmet rubs on your pants and starts you off haha. You'll be fine

I'm not sure I'd want to be awake. I think I'd hate knowing they were cutting me. I like the way mine was done. I went to sleep, and when I woke up, it was done.

It was painful for a time after, and I'm sure I've forgotten parts of it as it was 19 years ago, but I'd highly recommend it if your foreskin is tight.

It's much better for me now. Only thing I regret is not getting it done sooner.

"I have a tight foreskin and can’t retract. I always wondered if I’d need to be circumcised. I’d be interested to know if this is the same reason why your giving it f so done?"

--------

Great topic

I'm the same.

Some docs call it A GATHERED FORE SKIN.

If its same as others on here my foreskin will not pull over the head its fight.

So it restricts how hard I can get and my full fat erection.

My doc gave my a tropical ointment to use.

Has helped a little with the tightness, but not cured problem sadly.

Any very sencible ideas to avoid this circumcision please.

I miss my real hard fat rocket.

My age in petrified of getting this done.

Thanx Terry

I'd say just get it done. It's a few weeks of healing, then the rest of your life pain and discomfort free.

Had mine done when I was 26 as I had problems with it since a child, couldn't pull it back at all, it had adhesions too and my bell end was extremely tender and painful just having erections. I couldn't even masturbate with the normal technique either, as I couldn't do that action. So sex was the last thing on my desire list when growing up and couldn't even think about getting close to a woman, for fear of embarrassment and ridicule.

So when I was 26 I got it done.

Went into day surgery, under general, out the same day.

I didn't have to pee in hospital, I'm lucky if I can go at all in an 8 hour day anyhow.

I can't remember initially feeling much pain, the painkillers are very good.

I do remember the first pee as I was stopping at a friends house the first night, she picked me up from hospital. I stood at the toilet, as normal, felt the pee feeling, and as soon as I started peeing, had to quickly sit down facing the toilet to prevent it spraying everywhere but in the toilet

So the first few attempts at peeing was having to sit and pee, until the 'spray head' settled down. It was never painful.

The painful part was the auto alarm clock, which about 6am woke you up with a morning stiffy, letting you know the stitches needed a stretch and hard pull in every direction, especially where the blood had glued them to the skin. Not anymore, but again the pain killers helped. Would have been nice to have a day off.

The stitches were dissolvable but felt like nylon fishing line. I swear bits of pointy 'fishing line' was still feeling sharp, 2 years later.

Anyhow I got fixed. It healed. I can masturbate normally to my fantasies, turn ons and kinky perversions.

I then got my first girl friend, cos I'm 'sorted' down there, only I'm not sorted up top. Sex doesn't turn me on, it's a disaster and a turn off. I can't do it.

I hate my penis, penetration or receiving oral makes me feel sick to the stomach. So that's why I'm like I am. I've always been single, always been submissive and into female domination, as that's what always turned me on, when I couldn't have sex.

That's why I xdress I guess, have an obsession for worn knickers, because I never will have a girl friend that's interested in me that way. So I can't even get a sniff in (pun intended). I'm now 50 and actually looking forward to not being here. When the time comes the heartache won't bother me anymore.

No. I was told not to work for (I think it was 4 weeks)

However I was unemployed and got offered a job after 3 weeks, rather than risk losing the job I took it and said nothing. I was fine.

I'd definitely not do anything for the first two weeks, depending on your pain threshold, you'll be taking to many pain killers for the first week. Not saying the pain horrendous. It isn't, but that's that's down to the pain killers. Catch 22

I did go to work the next day, the district nurse called home and my girl told her I was at work, she got shouted at on my behalf haha. If yoy could take some time off, that would be good, but you are not bed bound. I was a bit of a workaholic back then, I'd probably take a week off if I got it done now.

I was back at work after 7 days, but I did have the luxury of taking time off without having to worry about the impact it would have on my role.

If I was home working and mostly sitting, I could have gone back earlier.

Overall it wasn't a lot of fun, but I certainly feel better for it now it is relatively back to normal (bar a minor issue).
