How do men and women differ when describing a bbw? I would say as a size 18 I am a bbw, but some men say no way, some women say I can't be classed as one unless I am over a size 20, so my dilemma is... go on a diet, eat more cake or stay as I am and not bother about what people think.

The term bbw and its various meanings is simply a state of mind I think. I use it to let people know I'm fat and let them make the decision to message me or not.

It's up to you how you describe yourself. If you think you are a bbw then you are, if you find the term doesn't sit well with you then don't use it.

I've always thought of myself as a bbw and I'm always being told I'm not, as they say we put ourselves in the brackets most suited coming on here I've found I'm more average in size but I'm always happy with myself

I don't think I can answer your question as I don't think there is a simple answer to it. Everyone has different reasons for what are, in effect, insecurities, whether it's related to body size, or something else. What I can say is that from looking at your pics you look amazing!

Britian has a huge obesity problem, and I am willing to bet that on a bmi scale, most so called BBW's will be clinically obese.

I used to be a size 24, till i joined fat camp and lost over 7 stone, im now a size 14 so still big just not as big but my fltness level have boosted already, sex is so much better now i dont have 3 bellies getting in the way. i dont get out of breath as easy and i dont have to stop and make an effort to change possition like i used to, they just flow

Loosing weight has definitely improvedmy sex life and im hoping it will get even better when ive lost the last of my weight

its a proven fact that the less weight you carry the fitter and healthier you are so stands to reason you will go longer in bed

I lost 4 stone last year, but its not my weight that is an issue for me, its my arthritis and other health problems that get in the way.

thats why i lost weight, i have arthritis in my knees and i was finding it hard to walk with my exess weight, i now get about a lot better so tho i didnt loose weight for a better shag it sure has helped, infact my my whole being has improved since i joined fat camp

Very much not fact! Yes we carry more weight but the fat inside upsets the muscle workings, hormone levels, heart function etc.. Overweight people have very bad tummy muscle tone!

Well I'm a BBW n I font really sweat all that much n as for skinny people being fitter not always the case i run circles round the skinny women at my advanced circuit training class n if im invited to a party from fab friends im always the last one standing so to speak n I've never had any complaints as of yet so I can't be goin that wrong! Having said that All women are different n I can imagine some do struggle but don't tar use all with the same brush fat doesn't always equal unfit!

Well I do generally work that hard at it but I hav to things working against me I hav an under active thyroid n chronic asthma controlled by a high level of steroids so my hard work n healthy diet helps me to remain fit but my weight only seems to maintain itself I never seem to lose it I just refuse u use this illnesses as an excuse to sit around n get fatter!

Well all I can say to the comments about and bigger women being fitter than the smaller women is its really opening my eyes, I have spent the last 30 years in the gym scene, I train 5-6 days a week and can honestly say I have never seen a BBW outclass a smaller framed lady. They are certainly not faster at running, they aren't as flexible, yes they can hit harder but that's a weight advantage not fitness, a good circuit session (body pump or combat) will see the bigger lady faulter before the smaller one.

As a lot of said each to the own on the size issue but you cannot compare fitness levels.

when i was a size 24 i couldnt even do my own shoes up

when i bent over my belly used to sit on my legs stopping me from getting down far enough, i cant see how a big lady can be flexible when they have rolls when they bend, i openly admit i wasnt, infact it was getting a handicap if im honest

I think the uk average is a 16. Now on a tall women, say 5"9 or above that will look great. On a short woman at 5'2 it will be obese. It's all about the BMI.

Every person on here who has made a substantal weight loss has said how much fitter they r after loosing the weight.. So to say carrying extra weight means u r fit is so much rubbish.. That theory means u r fitter the bigger u r cos the extra weight u carry is an excersise regime in itself.. So so very untrue!

Excess body fat causes nothing but problems.. If u have a condition then its only making it worse..

Everyone can loose weight its all about going about it the right way! Otherwise why is it only in latter history we have become such an overweight society? Thyroid problems, insulin problems etc have always exsisted but why were so many people not overweight? Cos they didn't eat the way we do or have so many devices that meant we aren't so physically lazy these days..

no size 22 woman is going to beat a size 12 in any kind of physical challenge

They are certainly not faster at running, they aren't as flexible, yes they can hit harder but

that's a weight advantage not fitness, a good circuit session (body pump or combat) will see the bigger lady faulter before the smaller one.

As a lot of said each to the own on the

In my own little world

I love being curvy, took me a long time to appreciate it, but having an absolute ball now. Funny I've always met long term partners when I'm at my heaviest. I keep it in check by going swimming, yoga and gym, but curves don't stop me from doing anything. Guess it shows that I'm happy, my smile is as big as my boobs!!!!

Don't worry about others think of you if you are happy with the size of yourself than you are happy and anyway why do we have to label people????? Men put WE or VWE does that mean men who are average are under achievers no way.....lol. I was a very big girl and had to weight to live but I was happy now am even happier as I am alive but hey ho horses for courses we are individuals not to be pidgeonholed for other peoples pleasure. In relation to your comment of womens breasts are 70% fat that may be true but it is all down to genetics, my family are really large but have small boobs, I on the other hand lost 5 stone and only lost 2 cups sizes and still a 36 ff/g so where is the logic in that lol

Agreed on all counts! I lost 5 stone last year and went from a 38H to a 34J! whereas my auntie is much bigger than me and had to have a boob job to have even average sized boobs for her size...

Why I do agree with parts of your post, can I ask have you considered the health implications of carrying such excess weight? I am happy to offer advice on this subject if you wish to discuss this further.

I guess you will choose not too, but its proven that obese people's quality of life is far poorer than those who lead a healthy lifestyle.

It's all saying that you are happy with yourself and everyone is beautiful. This is true. I would never wish to knock anyone. My comments have been purely based on a health aspect.

Yep - I'd go with this. As a size 16 shortass some would class me as a bbw. However, I still have a definite in-and-out curve, so some would class me as 'just' curvy.

Some men have messaged me with 'no-one above a size 14', 'no overweight women' on their profiles - when I've pointed this out to them that I don't fit into their wishlist they've said along the lines of 'yeah, but your pics are sexy'. Pffft!
