Just wondering if anyone on here swung in the 70's 80's etc ? Must have been really difficult with out the net. How did people meet up, I presume it was just at clubs ?

I started early 80's using contact mags, wouldn't say it was more difficult without the net, in some ways it was better, less wannabe's, fakes and timewasters. The only real drawback was it was so slow and could be quite expensive buying the mags, stamps and forwarding fee's.

Bring back the old days might cut all the timewasters out and the number single blokes,

who we believe arent swingers ( not all ) just some looking for a quick cheap shag,

We also seen improvements since the swinging scene has hit the limelight aswell, ie standard of clubs and the easyness of the meets now,

But also believe the drop in prices at clubs for membership and entrance due to competition has made it easier and more popular for the single bloke to attend

and we have noticed a drop in manners, respect and the ammount of single guys has risen in clubs, more following you around wanking.

This isnt a dig at just singles we have noticed a difference on the couples side aswell,

this isnt meant to slag of anyone and is just our humble opion, so please guys gals dont take offence

I think this may be more due to how people now percieve 'swinging'. I have read a lot of threads in the forum from guys saying they are dispointed that they have been on the site for 2 weeks and not had one single 'shag'.

Reading posts from some of the longer members on here helped me a lot in understanding what swinging was about ( when i first joined as part of a couple).

I just think that some people now see the site as a way to meet sex starved lonely people ..... rather than a way to meet likeminded people who respect and enjoy the lifestyle.

Purely my opinion too xx

I think this may be more due to how people now percieve 'swinging'. I have read a lot of threads in the forum from guys saying they are dispointed that they have been on the site for 2 weeks and not had one single 'shag'.

have to agree and we suppose the more popular the bigger the percentage of idiots rises, we feel for the genuine blokes out there, I used to be a single guy, so now how hard it is to get meets and some idiots dont help.

This is one of the reasons we dont swing too much and have entered the fetish scene more over the years, As still very underground so to speak and the respect from singles is there, as there is a less emphasis on sex in the scene.

Rendezvous was the magazine we stated off with, and I think the slowness added to the excitement I used to love getting a pack of letters to read through.

wouldn't have have felt safe doing it that way as a single though.

I actually like the sound of all that. Must of been really exciting having a build up. Sorting through the post, replying, arranging etc. Gives people time to get used to the idea rather than just loose their nerve and not turn up. x

I don't think we ever had a 'no show'. We always met socially first so there was no pressure,but quite often we'd click and end up playing.

Feeling very nostalgic for the 'good old days' now, lol.

yes rendezvous was the popular mag at the time,you sent a few letters of in a bigger envelope with the box number to the ad you were replying to,a postal order for £1 to cover costs and await a reply!.

a pub meet usually followed a week or so later after an exchange of polaroid pics and very few let downs(if any) in those days.

oh the good old days when swinging was swinging.

Early on possibly only a few mags available, "Forum" which was a great mag and had possibly only 30 contact ads per month.

People wrote real letters, no text speak and sent polaroids. Which meant people took time and care about what they wrote. You put your letter and photo in an envelope inside another envelope addressed to the mag with a postal order for the forwarding fee which wasnt cheap. This did ensure that you chose carefully, read and met the requirements & preferences of those you were contacting. There was a long delay of maybe a month before you received any reply which created very exciting anticipation.

Hardcore porn mags and films were illegal back then to. You could get it but it was expensive and the quality not always great. But again its rarity made it something special and very exciting.

The mystery, anticipation and the naughtyness of it has all disappeared now which i miss.

We both had some group fun in the 70s but it was not really swinging, just fun that happened at parties. G had a girlfriend in who was a keen swinger in Belfast, there was a sort of 'circuit' of events in private houses with word passed around those in the know. There were probably groups like that in most big cities?

my ex and i were heavilly into swinging during 70/80 it was a long drawn out process to meet people , first having to take poloroids, then placing an ad in a swingers mag, if answering an ad a letter and pic was enclosed in a sealed envelope with the ad number on the back and sent to the mag who then forwarded it, no prelims with cams or web chat no pc,s then so it was exchange notes and pics then arrange a meet.

or you took the riskier path of chancing it and asking friends who you thought may go for it and seeing if the were responsive or having friends for drinks and steering hte conversation in that direction,

we were in the forces at the time mainly in germany plenty of game single guys for threesomes or ex on her own and a surprising number of couples were willing to play

but it took soooooo long to get things going

Rendezvous is still going although think there are a fair few number of 'escorts' in there now. And yes, having to write proper letters and inclosing the odd polaroid photo, as the most Colorama would process would be a big smile or an innocent / accidental flash of stocking top.

And yes, there was great anticipation and excitement. I think it was better 20 years ago, the dogging was better then too, sites passed on by word of mouth only . . . back in the day
