I'm a tad confused about the terms of a relationship..

Is a fuck buddy the same as a friend with benefits?

Would you say you have a 'relationship' with them if you have a fuck buddy? Or is a relationship something you only have with your partner/wife/hubby?

I ask because I'm on the verge of seeing someone who wants an affair, regular meets to have sex, laughs, fun times etc Obviously I don't want to have a love affair with them, I want to see it as a friendship with great sex. I've also seen a guy for nothing but sex, only twice so far but happy to again when I get the chance.

I guess what I want to know.... Is it dangerous to call it a relationship? Should I see them as fuck buddies and nothing else?

Gee I'm confused so if you've got this far I'm sure you are more than confused!

Hmm I've thought about this before... I see it this way:-

Friends with benefits is where you have a friendship, go to the movies, shopping, meals and the likes... And also have sex when you both want it... But none of the love and "real life" shit that a real relationship mean...

Where as FB's are what it says, turn up, shag ect, and leave...

That's my take on it anyway... Personally I prefer either of these, and actively looking for

I see a fuck buddy as somebody you do just that with... have sex.

A friend with benefits in my world is a friend, so you do some things together, there is a sense of friendship, loyalty etc... and you have sex as well.

A relationship is a step up from the friend with benefits and more often than not it means seom exclusivity?

see it as a friend you have regular sex with but also a great friendship.. every encounter does not need to involve sex for me ie we can actually just go out for a day together .. nothing complicated

I think it's all very blurry to be honest. I've a regular guy I been playing with for nearly a year and class him as a fuck buddy but he's still a friend too and clearly there are feelings on both sides after this long but it's definately not a relationship as such!!

Don't try to define it if its too complicated just enjoy it

I like to refer them as playmates myself.

I no longer accommodate, and do not meet often. In between meets, I may ping a PM to check they are up the right way, and leave it as that.

If they fancy to meet again, they will contact me.

Just ask the person. Everyone sees it differently. One guy might see it as one thing and another may run screaming the minute you even ask what it is!!

In my experience, some men like to pretend to be bothered even though they actually aren't. They want to make sure you're there for them but as soon as you want them they're not there.
