Cheating is wrong no matter what

If you can’t be truthful with them be single

If they don’t want a open or semi open relationship be respectful off they wishes

If closed isn’t for you please leave them and save them the pain and torture down the line when they evnchly find out

Oh dear, some of you are lucky to be in honest and open relationships but aren’t you being a little narrow and self righteous about those of us that lead more complicated lives? If only life was black and white things would be easier to understand sometimes.

Dare I suggest that most people on this site are being dishonest in some way. Yes of course an alibi would avoid awkward questions and confrontation but sometimes a white lie can protect the feelings of others that you still care about .

It would be great if we could all be honest about our sexuality and perhaps we are heading that way, in the meantime some of us avoid the absolute truth to avoid rocking the boat and to keep the peace!

Yes, some truths hurt and it feels kinder to make a few white lies to soften the blows. But if the truths that hurt them are entirely your own choices, then it's only your own skin you're trying to save.

That’s a perfectly valid opinion but not everybody can cope with being told the brutal truth That is not an excuse, we all have insecurities and have to adjust to others we choose to live with. In an ideal world we could all be honest all of the time and we won’t even mention politicians

At least you get to make an informed choice on what you can live with. That's more than you feel your partner deserves clearly.

I'm not saying you should be terribly blunt about hurtful truths. It's more about if you know your actions would hurt someone you care about, and you do it anyway.

You have to have a very good memory and be constantly aware to keep a lie going undiscovered. Being married to a man who had tenuous relationship with the truth taught me that. Tiny slips add up to eventually realising someone's been telling porkies.

The only genuinely cast iron alibi is the truth.

“Do you think she’s attractive? “Yes, very!”

I’ve had bad reactions to these truthful questions and many others, am often told I ought to be more “tactful” so have learnt to be less honest

Not that many women are that self assured, secure and confident that they can cope with total honesty (from my experience)

I am genuinely not trying to justify dishonesty I just think that a sort of harmony can be achieved and maintained by avoiding truths that would hurt and disrupt

I believe they always know so if you are getting away with it they are letting you get away with it. Say what you like as an alibi, but be sure to change your toothbrush regulary and test your dinner out on the dog first every once in a while. Actually No not the dog, but go on, tuck into your tea. Keep the bog roll handy.

Can I just respond to this OP to say that if you believe that not telling the truth is going to hurt someone less than telling them their arse actually does look big in a dress then I’m really glad I’m not one of your friends or significant others. The hurt caused by lies is immense, devastating and despicable.

Call it what you want to yourself but don’t ever try to blame “women/ others for not being self assured”

That is just ass gravy of the highest order. And tbh absolutely boils my wee wee.

I wish you the best of luck. But if you don’t want to be honest with others you are definitely not being honest with yourself. And that’s a very sad way to live your life.
