I think it's asked because people don't want to go straight into a conversation saying that they are looking for x and y.

Eg if you were looking at a sliding scale of something where 1 was low and 10 was extreme you wouldn't say you were looking for a 10 straight away unless you knew what the person most likely to say 'Sod off' was looking for.

If you catch my drift.

I am not a black or white person and have many depths and levels which normally means each experience will be personal to that meeting and person(s) so I always look for a social meeting and anything else is a bonus to be "negotiated" by mutual consent.....what I look for with one person can be completely different to the next for many varied reasons ....tick boxes don't work in practice

so true, we can put up a general outline but things can develop with different peopel and lead to things that you never even dreamed of, that's where the fun of this lifestyle lays
