Anyone else find small talk difficult not just at clubs. Never know what to say and end up looking like a gormless gooseberry.

In some situations i do. I've found planning a few opening comments helpful and literally practice small talk by making myself chat to people. If you go to the same place regularly it seems to get easier; as you know what to expect and have topics you can discuss related to previous timed you've been there; whether it's a pub, club, work, on a train or at the local shops.

It's a skill that you can practice and get more confident.
