Too local?

Jump to newest

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

We all see many profiles from people who only want to meet people from within a certain range - 40 miles seems quite common. But is there a point at which people are TOO near?

Obviously I don't mean people on the same street, but where is the line drawn? 5 miles can be quite a long way, however prominent you think you are in the community...

Note - this is not prompted by anything specific, and no criticism of any person, persons or institutions should be inferred. At all.

The closest person to me that I have met lives just 2 streets away. The next closest is about 2 miles.

Suits me just fine

We have some really lovely friends about 1/2 a mile away! and we don't care where people live when they are that scrummy!

We also have a couple about 4 miles away that we used to play with, but they are both suffering health problems so are not playmates anymore, just good mates.

We did meet a couple a lot closer! Their garden backed onto ours!! But that was a social thing only lol....

If you like em and you all get along and you can keep it real, who cares where they live?

We had a couple contact us and they lived less than two streets away from us. We didn't have a problem with it at all - unfortunately they did and went into panic mode!

We have met 2 people of our street, one we had fun with, other we didn't as married.

Never to close for us as long as they understand they can't just turn up any time they like incase we have family/friends around.

Being as my first meet was someone who worked in same company as me - dont think if i found out that a potential

meet living two streets away would really bother me much.

So long as they didnt expect that i would be seeing em more often than anyone else.

My closet playmates only live about 2 miles away

My furthest at the mo - 96 miles

would freak me out a little if someone was near me, but at the same time it would be cool!. i do live in a small place though so that would be a bit dangerous

we try not to meet to local due to our jobs etc and also the added possibilty of our kids all going to the same school, but even now if we meet couples miles and miles away we still get the 3rd decree from the kids how do you know them ?etc so maybe a local couple is better then you can say i know them from ??

We didnt think there would be many swingers local to us, but a quick search on the postcode search option of the browse menu soon put us right!

We dont meet local cos we live in a very small town, more like a village, and Jayne's job would be at risk if someone got a bit snotty for some reason and decided to "out" us.

I have 3 cpl playmates all within 2 miles of where I live BUT they know if I ever "bumped" into them while in Tesco's they would get nothing but 100% courtesy from me.

Discretion is the key always.

At one time if anyone was near me I never replied or would reply and say NO too near. Now ive met a bloke a few streets away we have met twice in about six months.... our paths NEVER cross and never will .... we move in totally different time zones and travel in different directions. If he lived on mars we could not be further apart. He and I do what we say on the can. Neither is a needy stalker. Guess it's WHO you elect to meet and not WHERE they live that matters.

We not played with people to close to home, put have gone to the doctors and seen two couples, that was a bit scary at first that shock of seeing two couples you know sitting in the waiting room.

But we had only been swinging for a couple of months.

Have people come into work that i know swing, some juast smile while others have full conversation and you just hope no one else listening in on it.

Must get a new job

We bumped into Son's best mates dad at a club last year, didnt bother us but did him as he had left his wife at home and she obviously didnt know he was at a swingers club, everytime i see him he goes red.

If we saw anyone we knew at a club meet ect again,we wouldnt have a problem with it and most of our meets are with local people.

The distance has to be greater if you're married. 5 miles would seem safe for me.

For most of us if you are married then the distance is not the issue.

I bumped into my boss in the foyer at chameleons on Monday evening. It was a surreal moment we just said hello like we would at work. It was only as I was getting changed that the bizarreness hit me. I left the company not long afterwards (amicably). We sometimes discussed work in the club but never vice versa!!
