So a couple of us were pondering this at a ckub this afternoon.

Does anyone know where this Sydney university thing began?

Was there an actual study?

Is there some evidence?

Would appreciate some knowledge thanks.

I dont know where the links are, but this has been discussed before. It started off as a joke somewhere in the forums from what we heard and was a bit of a p**s take. Thing is some people dont know that and have taken it seriously.

I think the same has come about from Fabs being 'a publicly traded entity'....

Sydney University technically doesn’t exist.

We're also certain that sticking some text at the bottom of your profile doesn't override permissions you give by joining a free site and agreeing to their Ts and Cs, but if it makes people feel safer and secure, then fair enough.

Thanks.

The publicly traded entity nonsense is a straight copy and paste from Facebook.

Copy and paste is the preferred method of Barrosters and senior legal counsel obviously.

It’s the University of Sydney or USYD. So that legal disclaimer wouldn’t work even if it was for real.

I am a Barrister and would never copy and paste anything as it’s just bad form.

I take pride in treating all my clients with respect, courtesy and professionalism. My work is delivered with a smile, service and customer satisfaction is my priority.

My legal training would suggest most if not all the legal disclaimers are utter nonsense!

I wondered about the legal entity thing. First they were saying that Facebook is a publicly traded entity so anything put on fabswingers was public, which made no sense whatsoever.

Now people are saying fabswingers is a publicly traded entity - I don’t think it is, is it?

I've looked into this and there was genuine academic research into human sexual behaviour, by an Aussie University. The problem was that the research was published and the people who were interviewed had their information published (accidentally).

From this single issue the brains on the Internet decided a "legal disclaimer" was the best way to protect themselves.

People will fall for anything.

During a Fab Sojourn during lock down I read a status that stated no meets until fab allows!

Company house has all the information you need!

It would be difficult to use that as your FAB name.

Oh, I’m not worried, just interested. I doubt it’s status as a company is relevant to the issue anyway.

"Sydney University technically doesn’t exist."

Well, you see it does actually! I got a diploma from the university many years ago. The only trouble is that back here in the UK I found it very hard to find any employers who’d recognise it. It’s apparently because my certificate’s written upside down!

The fact is that the legal disclaimers are utterly ridiculous.

As for the face book connection that’s just a zuckerberg worm placed in your head by the shareholders of Facebook
