Genuinely curious…

I’m surprised by how many people make it blatantly clear they’ve not read my profile before messaging. For me, i can’t understand why you wouldn’t read the profile before deciding to message someone.

So, what I’m asking is:

1) do you read someone’s whole profile before messaging

2) if you don’t, why not?

Just curious

We always read the whole profile before messaging.

We expect people to read ours as theres a lot in there and a lot of general questions answered.

Its frustrating to get messages we have already answered in our profile.

We always read the profile before we message. We can’t decide if we even want to message if we haven’t read it. That said, definitely feel your pain. Of the 50+ messages we’ve received today I’d say over 40 of them haven’t actually read our profile.

There’s only one reason I might not read a profile first - and that’s if I’m directly replying to a forum post for daft reasons that don’t need me to even know who the person is. Forum games etc. (To be honest, even then I’ll usually take a look though.)

It just baffles me. People get arsey cause you’ve not replied when they’ve literally either done everything you’ve said you don’t want and won’t respond to, or they’ve not done anything you’ve said you require.

For example, without a face pic in that opening message, I won’t reply. I know not everyone wants to send one straight away, but if that’s the case, just don’t message me.

Or another example: I’ve stated i don’t do last minute meets so I won’t respond to “fancy a meet”. Then I get 20 messages a day saying “fancy a meet”.

So confusing!

But I get what you’re saying about forum game things, that’s different

Can only assume with things like that it’s either complete laziness or they’re playing a numbers game and hoping if they send out 100 messages, 1 might respond. If you throw enough shit some of it will eventually stick

Always view images and profiles before I message anyone. I like to try and get a feel for an individual.

I suspect many will just view an image and message on the back of that with given the profile text any thought. That is a male type of response purely because they are physical and like images as opposed to women who are more emotional and wish to be more connected through profile text.

A profile really needs both to grab everyone's attention.

From my experience there's two types of people on here. One who doesn't read it at all and the other who does read it but tries their luck anyway. It baffles me why someone would waste their time messaging someone who clearly has no interest in meeting anyone but that's fab! I'm very much in the same mind set now, if they can't be arsed to read it then I can't be arsed to reply.

We'll always read a whole profile to see if we're a match for someone.

Our profile clearly states we're not meeting and also that we don't live in the UK anymore but we still get a couple of messages a week asking if we'd like to meet up..

1 more often than not, no.

2. Because I’m more social than trying to get into your knicker. So as I’m

More like to talk to you from the forum, I’ll probably be sending you a Dm about something you posted. Why would I need to know you only like BBC to talk about your post? (Just an example)

I'm terrible for reading profiles.

If you have a nice pic and a funny message and I'm in a sociable mood I'll reply. We could get about 20 messages in before I eventually read it and I see something that puts me off!

I always read the profiles but I got friendly with a couple while ago and after chatting for a bit I asked if they like some phone sex fun .The hubby wasn't too pleased until I pointed out it was in their list of interests and apologised for being a bit blunt with me and removed it from the list of interests

I always check profiles and click a few pics.

Learning a little about the people before messaging and being realistic about how your profiles match reduces the rejection and saves pissing people off.

Sadly many just seem to send of random messages to anyone.

The worst ones wont accept a polite rejection.

It is also true some profiles invite the wrong responses because of how they are worded.

We think some just look at pictures and get horny and want to fuck you so they just message without reading the profile.

Also if the profile has large amount of text people struggle to read through or can't be bother to read through.

We like the profiles with lots detailed text as it makes it easier for us to compose a message to them, because we get a glimpse of what the personality is like

I usually have a read as it gives some kind of talking point, rather than just a random message about nothing. And that you've taken the time to learn as much (as you can from a little bio) about the people you are hoping to talk with.

Now as I say this, I really need to put more in my profile so people have a reason to message me.... Yeah I'm gonna go with that as the reason I don't get many messages
